Also know:
Most of the species known to science are insects.
Some species are so important to the functioning of an ecosystem that they are called keystone species.
Emphasizing the preservation of entire ecosystems will save many unknown species from extinction.
The term biodiversity refers to the variety of species in a given area, the variety of species on earth,
the genetic variation within a population, the variety of species in a community, or the
variety of communities in an ecosystem.
How to write the properly balanced equation for the production of glucose during photosynthesis,
and for the respiration of glucose in the cell.
In the 1800s, sea otters were hunted for their fur. The otters disappeared from the Pacific coast of North
America. Sea urchins, with no more predators, multiplied and ate all the kelp. The kelp beds
began to disappear from the area. In 1937, a small group of surviving otters was discovered.
With protection and scientific efforts, the otter populations grew. The otters once again preyed
on the sea urchins. The kelp beds regenerated. The sea otters are a keystone species for their
ecosystem.
