Notification of programme outputs form
Programme Grants, Form V1
Programme Outputs: Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR)
notification procedure
We actively encourage the dissemination of your work through publications and/or presentations.
However, we do require that you inform the programme team of any outputs 28 days prior to
publication. This is an obligation of your contract with the Department of Health (the relevant part of
which is reproduced below*). We do not want to suppress or alter your plans to disseminate your
research. A 'research output' is defined as any output related to the project that will enter the public
domain, including press releases and other publicity material.
Reasons for this requirement:
The Department of Health need to be kept aware of any imminent publication, so that if approached
they can formulate an appropriate response.
Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR) funding must be acknowledged and the
Department of Health disclaimer included on each output, with wording similar to the following:
PGfAR funding acknowledgement:
‘This presentation/article presents independent research commissioned by the National Institute for
Health Research (NIHR) under its Programme Grants for Applied Research scheme (RP-PG-XXXXXXXXX).’
Department of Health disclaimer: ‘The views expressed in this publication are those of the author(s)
and not necessarily those of the NHS, the NIHR or the Department of Health.’
If we are aware of your programmes outputs we can help to raise general awareness of your
published results.
*The contract states
'The Authority's Representative must be notified prior to any publication (whether in oral, written or
other form) of data or the results of the project or of matters arising from such data or results. One
draft copy of the proposed publication shall be sent to the Authority's Representative at the same time
as submission for publication or at least 28 days before the date intended for publication whichever is
earlier.'
Overleaf you will find a notification of programme outputs form which we require you to complete for
each output and return to us. We would appreciate it if you use this form and include a copy of the
relevant output.
If you have any queries regarding the output notification procedure please contact your Programme
Manager or email programme.grants@nihr-ccf.org.uk.
