Wednesday was the final day that The Karen group and myself will use the school’s kitchen.
I just wanted to say a very big thank you for allowing us to use the space – it was the perfect place for such a group. The women felt so special and it was great that they could share their positive experience in the school with their children.
Joy was fabulous and made us feel very welcome. The days we spent in the kitchen were some of the best of the entire 3 month program!

Children have extremely inquisitive minds. Therefore as carers, we need to be extremely flexible to cater to the children’s needs. The Outside school hours care team at St Martin de Porres aim to ensure that all the children have fun at our program. Therefore we try to design the program based on children’s interests and suggestions.
Last week’s theme was originally planned to focus on the Australian outback based on a child’s suggestion.
As the week progressed however, the children showed more interest in animals other than Australian animals, so the theme was changed to encompass all animals. A big tree was created on which to put all the animals and any other art work.
This week, being the last week of school for the term, we will be celebrating the end of the term with fun activities and the children will be able to choose from a variety of activities and. On the last day of school we will also have a small party with party food, popcorn and party games.
Children from Laverton P – 12 College are welcome to book into the program. Pick up and drop off service to
Laverton College every day, safely walking between the schools supervised by a staff member.
For any enquiries or bookings please email me at smdp.oshc@gmail.com or call Alex on 0417 727 908.
You can also download the enrolment forms on the St
Martin De Porres website http://www.smdplaverton.catholic.edu.au
. Make sure you enrol your kids so they can enjoy the fun at

As from the start of the 2015, all schools across the state must commence the process of developing the study of a language in addition to English. This is often referred to a LOTE program. As our College does not currently have a study language other than English but one must be introduced in 2015, commencing with Prep classes. In each year following, the language studied will be added to the next year level. In 2016 for instance, Prep and Year 1 will study another language. It is expected that all year levels, Prep to Year 10, will be studying another language by
2025. This is the expectation of the Education Department. Our school therefore, needs to decide which language to study. There are many choices and many things to take into consideration. We are keen to hear the views of families across our College. The College Executive is aiming to decide on the most appropriate language to study and make a recommendation to School Council in Term 3.
Families are asked to complete the Reply Slip below and return it to school by Friday 27 th June if they wish to express a view on which new language we introduce.
