Welcome to our apartments We hope your stay in our apartments will be pleasant. We have the following recommendations which will make your stay even more pleasant. Water: The city of Xelaju has been growing at a very fast pace in the last 20 years. As a result of it, water has become a scarce commodity which in real terms means preservation. Hopefully, you will not notice this scarcity because we have built two huge underground water deposits. They can provide water to our facilities for up to five days without receiving water from the city. It is very important that you report a water leak to our office as soon as possible. Drinking water: Locals drink the city water without getting sick because the city chlorinates the water. However, we recommend to our customers to drink bottled water which one can purchase from any local store. Our main building has a two stage water filtration system which is free of charge to our customers. Please ask our staff at our office for the location of the fountain. If your unit has a water filter, do not need this service. Hot water: If you are renting apartment # 1, 2 and 2A, we have installed a 60 gallon water heater for these units. The schedule for this water heater is 6 to 8:00 AM, 1:00 to 2:00 PM and 6:00 to 10 PM. If you cannot adjust to this schedule for these hours, please talk to the people in our office. The other units and house use a gas pipe heater. These heaters are activated when you take a shower. Please have a little patience because it takes one or two minutes for the water to warm up. Toilets: Unlike other toilets in Guatemala, our toilets are able to handle toilet paper so you do not have to deposit toilet paper in a garbage can. Garbage: Garbage collection takes place each Tuesday at 6:30 AM. Please do not take out the garbage the night before because homeless dogs will make a big mess with the garbage bags. You have two options for getting rid of the garbage bags. First option, you should take the garbage bags before 6:30am and leave on the street, right side of the street, by our garage door. The second option is to take the garbage bags to our building the night before so our staff can put them on the street. If you wish to do this, please talk to Jaime or Luis Enrique at our office. Muchas gracias. Deposit and checking out: Before you take over the unit, please pay your balance and deposit to Jaime at our office. Your deposit will be returned after we check out the unit for potential damage. You do not have to do the last clean up because the renting fee covers for this service (we do ask that you leave it respectfully clean). However, it does not cover for damage or missing items. Smoking: Our units are smoke free. Smoking is not permitted under any circumstances. If we find that you are smoking in the units, a termination to the contact will take place immediately and no refund will be issued. Pets: We do not allow any pets in our units under any circumstance. Internet: Internet is free of charge, 24/7. Ask our staff for the passwords to connect to our hot spots in the building. If you did not bring your laptop, you are welcome to use our computers for no charge in our main building. As a courtesy to other customers and students who are taking Spanish classes, please limit the use of the computers if other students are waiting. We highly recommend bringing PCs because they work 100% with our hot stops. Macs computer are not 100% compatible with our hot spots. We do not have the knowledge to support issues with Apple Macs. Our units are located in the Historic Center of the city. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. You are welcome to ask our staff at our office for names of good restaurants and coffee shops. There is a Dispensa Familiar Store (Walmart) four minutes walking distance from our building, one block away from the Central Park. If you wish to visit la Pradera (big Walmart Mall), please take a taxi directly from the Central Park. It has a movie theater, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chinese Retaurant, SubWay, etc, etc. If you have issues with gas or anything else, please contact Jaime at 45149375 or knock on his apartment door which is located under our main office. Luis Enrique is also able help with issues. His phone is 52141633 Sincerely, Casa Xelaju info@cx.edu.gt
