National Lead Clinicians Group - 2014 Awards for Excellence FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: How can I be sure that my application has been received by the department? A: On submission of your application you will receive a confirmation email outlining that your application has been received and that attachments can be opened successfully. Q: How can I be sure if my project is relevant to this Awards program? A: Please be sure to read the all the Awards documentation available on the website to assist you in making a decision as to the relevance of your individual project. Q: I don’t want to send my application via email; can I post my application to the department via the post? A: No. An application sent via email is the only acceptable means of submission. Q: When will you advise winners and finalists if they are successful? A: As finalists will be invited to attend the Awards presentation, they will be contacted immediately on completion of the evaluation process. Q: When will you be advising applicants if their applications have been unsuccessful? A: Unsuccessful applicants will be advised on the outcomes before the presentation of Awards. Q: Does the page limit include references? A: No. References will not be taken into consideration for the page limits on your application. Q: How will the prizes be paid and are they required to be used for the project? A: Cheques will be presented to prize winners and there are no stipulations regarding the use of the prize. Q: I am having difficulty sending an email with attachments, how can I fix this? A: Please consult your personal email service provider to rectify the issue. Q: Can I apply for more than one Award category? A: Yes. However you must submit a full and separate application for each Award category or stream. Q: There are two streams in the Category 3 awards for cultural competence in Indigenous health care, management of chronic disease and early childhood and maternal health. Can I apply separately for both? A: Yes. In doing so you must provide separate applications for different categories or streams. Q: Will there be relevant experts judging the Awards? A: Yes. A separate Evaluation Panel will judge each Award Category and the Evaluation Panels will include an Indigenous clinician or AMR expert where relevant. The panels will also have access to further technical advice from the Department of Health if required. Q: Will late applications be accepted? A: Applications received after the closing date of 21 March 2014 will not be accepted. Q: How many awards are there in each Category? A: Subject to the quality and number of applications received, two winners in each of the three Award categories will receive an Award of $10,000. Up to twelve runners-up will also be recognised across the three categories. Runnersup will each receive a prize of $3,000. Certificates will also be provided to all the Award finalists. Q: If I am successful in two categories of Awards (e.g. General and AMR), for the same project, will I receive two awards? A: An Award recipient can only receive one Award for one project. The Evaluation Panels will judge which Award Category would be most appropriate for the Award recipient. An Award recipient may receive Awards in multiple categories, provided that the applications are for different projects. Q: My application demonstrates an AMR project undertaken in the acute care sector. Am I eligible for the AMR Awards? A: Applications from the acute care sector will be eligible if they can demonstrate involvement of the primary health or aged care sectors. Q: I am having difficulty accessing the application form from the website, how can I get a copy? A: Please email leadcliniciansgroups@health.gov.au and request an application form be sent to you. Q: Is the Award only open to projects conducted in Australia? A: Applications must be based on projects conducted in Australia. Q: Can I receive feedback on my application? A: Feedback will not be provided to applicants on their applications. Q: What should I do if I cannot submit my application as I get a bounce back email?
