Health Walks in Spring 2013
Why not join us for a walk in Bulwell and the surrounding area? Our led walks offer you the opportunity to have fun,
make new friends, improve your health and get to know your local area! The walks are free and everybody is
welcome! So come along and meet our walk leaders Heather, Daphne, Tony, Malcolm and Bill!
You can join one of our health walks with a different route available in each week (please see our events calendar
for details), or join our Bulwell Forest signature walk available every week (our signature walk route passes through
Bulwell Forest, Moorbridge, Bestwood and finishes at the Country Park/Bulwell Park.
There are plenty of small steps you can take to improve your health and to help you on your way to a longer, happier
and more independent life. Benefits of walking include: *makes you feel good *gives you more energy *helps you
sleep better *reduces blood pressure and improves hearth health *helps reduce stress * helps you to manage your
weight and *you can meet new people and make new friends.
For more information on the walks ring Bill on 07970899129. The Bulwell Forest Action Group’s walks start on
Monday mornings at 10 am from the number 17 bus stop at the end of Cantrell Road. Some of the walks in this
programme require the use of public transport and the use of your City card if you have one. Please dress sensibly
for the weather and wear flat, comfortable footwear and bring a bottle of water.
Bulwell Forest Walking Group is also affiliated to Walking for Health England and AgeUK Best Foot Forward and Fit as
a Fiddle programme. Events are colour coded:

Park/Bulwell Hall Park (2 routes, either a linear or circular)
Nuthall Railway Walk, ~3 miles route along part of the Great Northern
Line of, stopping halfway for coffee at The Three Ponds
Bestwood walk – A 1-3 miles walk offering a variety of routes around the
Bestwood area with walk leaders Trevor and Helen
Strelley Woodland & Countryside walk - A 4 mile circular walk through
open fields with panoramic views of the area.

Bulwell Forest Garden’s are planting bulbs, making raised beds and
preparing to start work on the sensory garden, over the winter period.

Music in the Community - Nottingham Wind Ensemble in Concert. At the
Bulwell United Reformed Church (NG6 9GJ). Tickets are £5 including
refreshments.
