DM111 - GENERAL ANATOMY I (Regional)
Deals with the study of human body region, the upper extremities, the thorax, the
abdomen, the pelvic and the lower extremities. It includes the study of the maxillofacial
structure, the pharyngeal regions and the facial planes of the face and neck are given special
emphasis as they are basis for a letter appreciation of numerous dental problems much as spread
of dental infections and fracture of jaw. The laboratory work includes the use of charts, models
and specimen for demonstration and the dissection of cadavers.

DM112 - GENERAL MICROSCOPIC ANATOMY AND EMBRYOLOGY
This subject deals with the study of individual cells, tissues and organ systems as well as
its functions. It also describes the development of the human embryo.

DM113 - BIOCHEMISTRY
Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes in living organisms. It deals with the
structure and function of cellular components such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic
acids and other biomolecules as well as the products of their reactions. It also includes the study
of non-covelant interactions of molecules that relate to cellular and molecular structure and
function. It divided into three (3) principal areas: 1) the structure of the components of living
matter and the relationship of biological functions to chemical structure; 2) metabolism, the
totality of chemical reactions that occur in living matter; 3) the chemistry of processes and
substances that store and transmit biological information.

DM114 - ORAL ANATOMY
Oral Anatomy is that branch of dental science that deals with the study of morphology of
the deciduous and permanent teeth, their arrangement and relationship with supporting
structures, the growth and development of the skull and jaws correlated to the eruption of the
teeth and the forces of occlusion. This subject also explains the proper identification of each
tooth in the arc using 3 systems of Dental Nomenclature. This course provides sufficient basic
knowledge in developing dental students anatomist comparable with other local and international
dental anatomist.

DM115 - COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS & INFORMATICS
This is a 3 unit course that aims to aims to enhance the skills of dental practitioners in the
field of Computing Studies. Equipped with the knowledge on the current technology trends, the
students should be able to make the most of their acquired knowledge to be able for them to
apply computing technology to their chosen field. This course will help improve the skills in data
mining, data warehousing, dental photo editing and case presentations which in turn, the
clinicians will be taught the best techniques in using the World Wide Web (Internet) along with
updated computer applications (word processing, electronic spreadsheet, slide presentation,
photo editing) that will make their dental practice, research and management more effective.

This subject deals with the study of functions of the human body; the individual cell,

This course deals with the study of the physical and chemical properties of the metallic

enabling the dental clinician to be globally competitive by being proficient in his choice of
materials best for each case on hand.

DM212 - PHARMACOLOGY
This course is designed to provide a logical framework for learning and working

their clinical practice.

DM214 - PROSTHODONTICS I (Fixed Partial Denture)
This is a one semester undergraduate study in both lecture and laboratory of Fixed Partial
Prosthesis (Crown & Bridge Prosthesis). Every effort is made to provide continuity in logical
sequence for dental crown and bridge construction which would give the students knowledge of
various techniques, methods and preparations of fixed prosthesis without losing sight of their
biological requirements in a living organism.

The principles and techniques of regional anesthesia in dental practice and the study of

Endodontics is the branch of Dentistry concerned with the morphology, physiology and

DM326 - DENTAL JURISPRUDENCE & ETHICS
A study of law in general and its classifications, jurisprudence in general and sources of
dental jurisprudence; basis of the state regulation such as taxation, eminent domain and police
power; brief history of dental legiation in the Philippines including creation and composition of
Board of Dental Examiners; and the present R.A. 4419 known as the Philippine Dental Act of
1965; also includes examination and registration, revocation and suspension of certificates under
R.A. 4419; conduct of administrative proceedings; power of judicial review; composition of
professional regulation Commission; malpractice, obligations and contracts; implied duties and
obligations of dentists; criminal and civil liabilities of dentists, privilege and prohibited drug
taxes; dental fees and compensation; privilege communications; regulatory code of dental
practice in the Philippines and the Generic Act of 1988.

as part of the requirement in Clinical Dentistry IV and a pre-requisite for graduation in order to
