Coldstream Structure Plan, June 2015 Invitation for written input Update Work on the Coldstream Structure Plan is now in a public consultation phase following the release of the Issues and Opportunities Paper in May 2015. On June 4 a community workshop was held at Coldstream Primary School to explore questions arising from the Paper. Approximately 60 people attended, with discussion focussing broadly on themes of future economic role and image, urban structure, pedestrian and vehicle movement, landscape and public realm, and town growth options. Key points raised in the Workshop were: 1. Population should increase in away that respects existing character and landscape. Some outward growth is needed. 2. Further subdivision in the estate should generally be avoided. 3. Focal points are needed to indicate entry and exit to the town. 4. Vacant land near the Lodge is suited to medium density residential, with through pedestrian connections to link the estate to the shops (i.e. from Murac Street). 5. Pedestrian access must be improved, particularly along Killara Rd and Maroondah Hwy. A better connection across Maroondah Hwy is needed at the Lodge. 6. The Lodge and Gateway shops need to be distinguished from each other. While views were mixed, generally more people preferred the Lodge as the future focus and target of investment. What do you think? Do you agree with the above? Are there other opportunities these comments and the Paper do not mention? We would like to keep the conversation rolling by giving you an opportunity to give us your input in writing by Monday 29 June 2015.
