Levels of Organization Foldable
Your assignment is to create a matchbook foldable to help you learn the levels of organization within an
organism.
Instructions:
1. Get six pieces of paper and stagger them on your desk. Fold the pages over to make 12 flaps. Staple the
corners.
Top Flap1. On the long narrow flap at the top, write the title LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION.
2. On the far right of the flap write your first and last name.
Second Flap(starting from the top)3. On the outside of the second flap on the bottom portion, write in large letters: MOLECULES
4. On the top part under the first flap write in the definition of molecules and list the 4 macromolecules on
pages 45-47 in your book.
Third Flap5. Outside bottom of the third flap write the word ORGANELLE
6. On the top part under the second flap, define organelles, and name 8 organelles from page 175 in your
book.
Fourth Flap7. Outside bottom of the fourth flap, write the word CELL.
8. On the top part under the third flap, define cell, and tell the difference between a prokaryote & a
eukaryote on page 173 in your book.
Fifth Flap9. Outside bottom of the fifth flap write the word TISSUE.
10. On the top part under the fourth flap, define tissue and list the four main types of tissues found in animal
cells found on page 192 in your book.
SIXTH Flap11. Outside bottom of the sixth flap write the word ORGAN.
12. On the top part under the fifth flap, define organ, and list one organ in these systems (circulatory,
excretory, integumentary, nervous, and respiratory). You pages 892-893 in your book to aid you.
SEVENTH Flap13. On the outside of the seventh flap, write the words ORGAN SYSTEM.
14. On the top part under the sixth flap, define organ system. List the systems mentioned on pages 892-893
in your book.
EIGHTH Flap1. On the outside of the eighth flap, write the word ORGANISM
2. On the top part under the seventh flap, define organism. List an invertebrate, vertebrate, plant, and
fungi. Use chapters 21-32 and the index to help you.
NINTH Flap1. On the outside of the NINTH flap, write the word POPULATION
2. On the top part under the eighth flap, define population. Give an example of ONE population of
organisms found in the temperature deciduous forest (where we live).
TENTH Flap1. On the outside of the TENTH flap, write the word COMMUNITY
2. On the top part under the ninth flap, define community. List five organisms that make up a community
found in the temperate deciduous forest (where we live)
ELEVENTH Flap1. On the outside of the ELEVENTH flap, write the word ECOSYSTEM
2. On the top part under the tenth flap, define ecosystem. List THREE biotic and THREE abiotic
components of the temperate deciduous forest (where we live).
TWELFTH Flap1. On the outside of the twelfth flap, write the word BIOSPHERE
2. On the top part under the eleventh flap, define biosphere. List five biomes found throughout the world
from page 99 in your book, (**make sure one of them is the temperate deciduous forest**).
