Academic Advising Syllabus
90credits - GRADUATION
Finalize plan for graduation with use of Degree Tracker
 Review and finalize courses remaining for graduation with use of Degree Tracker.
o Meet with faculty advisor to discuss any questions or concerns regarding degree completion.
 Apply to graduate:
o Log onto Navigator, Full Menu, Academics, Apply for Graduation
Continue to advance faculty relationships, including your advisor
 Meet with your faculty advisor at least once each semester, outside of the registration advising period.
 Consider asking your advisor or other faculty to be a reference for graduate school and/or future employment opportunities.
o When asking faculty for references, allow plenty of time for faculty to respond. They may receive several requests
per year, so ask early.
 Remain in contact with faculty post-graduation.
Enhance academic and/or professional leadership prospects on or off campus
 Consider taking on additional responsibilities within a role of leadership (ie. At your job, in a student group, etc).
o Visit Academic Advising to discuss how these activities may satisfy course requirements
o Visit Career Services to discuss internships, jobs, and other activities
Solidify post-graduate opportunities
Utilize MAP-Works
 Be sure to log into your Navigator and take your MAP-Works survey each October and February at salemstate.edu.mapworks.com
 Review your results of the survey with an Academic Advisor, Faculty member, Direct Connect, or other staff member
Meet with a Peer Mentor
 Go to the Center for Academic Excellence in the Berry Library and Learning Commons and meet with a peer mentor.
