ELIGIBILITY
 Commit to working the entire 2014-2015 academic year
 Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills while responding to an array of concerns with a neutral
approach
 Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
 Be in at least sophomore standing as of Fall 2014
 Be able to work an average of 10 hours per week
OVERVIEW
The Academic Advising office is recruiting a few outstanding students for our Peer Mentor program for the upcoming 20142015 academic year. Peers will work out of the Academic Advising office at $10/hr as a resource for students seeking
general academic advising assistance. Peers will be given extensive training to provide accurate and friendly service as well
as the tools to address a variety of questions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The bulk of responsibilities will occur during scheduled walk-in hours to address general advising questions. These inquiries
may include:
 Discussion about declaring/switching majors
 Assistance in understanding Degree Tracker
 Questions about pre-requisites and other graduation requirements
 Assistance with registration of courses
 Assistance with transfer credits
 Referrals to relevant organizations and departmental resources
Peers will also be responsible for duties outside the office. These activities may include:
 Orientation assistance (new student, transfer and evening)
 Programming
