County Wicklow Heritage Plan
Nov. 2015
The County Wicklow Heritage Plan is a 5 year strategic plan with targeted actions to
enhance the protection, appreciation and knowledge of our natural, cultural and
built heritage. It is a partnership plan, initiated and co-ordinated by Wicklow County
Council through the Wicklow Heritage Forum and reliant on the input of many
stakeholders for its implementation. As part of the process of preparing a new Plan
we would love to get your views by completing and returning this questionnaire.

1. By definition ‘heritage’ includes; Monuments, archaeology, heritage objects,
architecture, flora, fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, seascapes, wrecks,
geology, heritage gardens and parks and inland waterways.

2. The actions in the existing Heritage Plan are grouped under the following four
themed objectives;
 Gathering information about Wicklow’s Heritage in order to better understand
it
 Raising Awareness and promoting appreciation of Wicklow’s Heritage
 Enhancing the protection of Wicklow’s Heritage through Best Practice and
practical actions
 Encouragement of partnership and greater community participation
