CMS TEAM-BY-TEAM RESULTS ATHENAS STAGS WINTER SPORTS Women’s Basketball The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to six games last week with a 60-32 win at Caltech and a 50-44 overtime victory at home over Chapman. Sophomore center Kailee Severt (CMC ’18) posted 19 points against the Beavers, including five three-pointers. Junior guard Jai Dungca (CMC ’17) led all Athenas with 12 points and four steals in the matchup with Chapman. The 11-4 (6-0 SCIAC) Athenas are tied for first place in the conference and will look to continue the winning streak this week against Redlands on Jan. 19. Men’s Basketball The Stags earned their first SCIAC win of the season, at Caltech last week, before falling to Chapman at home. Sophomore guard Joey Malgesini (CMC ’18) put up 19 points in the 64-56 win, with Jack Earley (CMC ’16) and Michael Scarlett (CMC ’18) also posting double-digit point totals. Despite beating first-place Caltech, CMS sits last in the conference with a 7-7 overall record, but a 1-4 mark in SCIAC contests. Next up is a home game against Redlands on Jan. 20. Men’s Swim & Dive It was a busy weekend for the CMS swimming and diving athletes who participated in the UCLA Diving Invite on Jan. FIVE-COLLEGE CLUB SPORTS Women’s Rugby The women’s rugby team has a big home match on Saturday, Jan. 30 vs. Cal State Fullerton. Men’s Lacrosse The season gets underway for the Claremont Cougars on Jan. 30 with the Trapp Family Alumni Classic at home at 3 p.m. The regular season begins with a road match at Long Beach State on Feb. 6. Men’s Rugby After five days of twice daily training, mountain runs, film study and classroom sessions, the Claremont Colleges men's rugby team defeated Cal Poly Pomona 84-0 at Parents Field on Jan. 16 to finish their pre-season training camp. The Lions open conference play on Jan. 30 at Parents Field vs. Pepperdine.
