Welcome to the Department of Finance and Marketing!
Please pick up your Plan of Study and a General University Requirement (GUR) Checklist form. Now get
out your transfer equivalency report.
Complete the following checklist and call me over at any time to ask questions
☐
Apply to be a CBE major at https://cbe.wwu.edu/apply .
☐
Review your transfer equivalency report. Did all your classes transfer over properly? If you are
not sure, call me over.
☐
Complete your GUR requirement checklist based off your transfer equivalency report. If you
have a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) you will not need to take any GURs at WWU and you do
not need to complete this step.
☐
Read and Fill out all your completed courses on the Plan of Study. Read this document
carefully!
☐
Decide if you are a PreMajor (you have not taken all Foundation Courses) or a full major (you
have you taken all Foundation Courses). Both premajor and full major students can register
during the first phase of registration. Only full major students can register for concentration
courses.
☐
Plan for next year! Look at the classes we offer on Classfinder
https://admin.wwu.edu/pls/wwis/wwsktime.SelClass
☐
Using Classfinder and your Plan of Study decide on the courses you want to take next fall,
winter, and spring. Pay attention to prerequisites. At this point please call me over to check your
proposed schedule.
Other common questions:

My Transfer credits did not transfer to WWU or I am transferring from out of state.
o Check to see if your classes transfer over
https://admin.wwu.edu/pls/wwis/wwsktcat.TE_Catalog
o If they do not fill out this form:
https://esign.wwu.edu/admcs/process/forms/CBE/Transfer_Equivalency_Request.aspx

I did not take a math class at my community college that transferred to WWU. Do I need to take
the math placement test?
o
Yes. Math Placement tests times are found here:
http://www.wwu.edu/assess/mathplace.shtml .

I did not take a basic computer or excel class at my community college that transferred over as
MIS 220. Do I need to take the MIS test out exam?
o Yes. You can either enroll in the free MIS test-out exam or you can register to take the
two credit MIS 220 course. More information on the MIS 220 test- out can be found
here: https://cbe.wwu.edu/mis-220-test-outl .

Do I need a minor?
o Many students complete minors. This is either to gain a specific skill set or to ensure you
have 180 total credits and 90 non-business credits when you graduate.

Can I track my graduation process?
o Yes. By logging into your Web4U under the students tab and going to degree evaluation.
This will tell you how close you are to graduation.
CBE GPA Requirement:
To apply as a premajor you need a 2.50 all-college level GPA cumulative and a 2.30 GPA in any CBE
courses taken. You must maintain a 2.50 GPA and CBE 2.30 GPA to become a full major.
You will be dropped from CBE if you have below 2.30 CBE GPA. We do give you a two quarter warning to
bring up your GPA.
