J.B-T. Debrief of Quiz Night, North Devon Show and Heasley Mill Duck Race Kate Kellaway and Debbie Tapp organised a Quiz Night at the Poltimore Inn on Tuesday 7th July which was a great success. The night raised a total of £468.00 which was an excellent amount as Kate said it was an easy fundraising event to organise. Kate is going to speak to the landlord to see if she can organise another one maybe in October. The pub is used 4 nights a week for skittles in the winter but we may be able to organise one on a night when skittles is not taking place. We also need to think about reducing the number of raffle prizes next time. K.K. Elaine Symons, Julie B-Truss, Kate Jefferson and Debbie Stenning all helped out on the pocket money stall at the North Devon Show on Wednesday 5th August and raised £161.85. This was a very busy event but we do need to look at our pricing structure for hair braiding and face painting if we do it again next year as we were a lot cheaper than other stalls. The Duck Race took place on Thursday 13th August and was a great success again and raised £749.00. Thank you to everyone that helped out on the night and on various other days selling the tickets. Also the ice-creams sold on the last few weeks of term raised £57.13. Treasurer's Report The current bank balance is £6,964.17. The outgoings for July were for the year 6 leavers trip which was £175.00. £4,000 has been allocated for the kitchen and at present £1,260 has been spent from this amount. We are still awaiting invoices from W.H. Buckingham, Simon Davies and Martin Bendle. New Kitchen Everyone was very impressed with the new kitchen that Howdens supplied free of charge. It was asked if there would be different level tables for the children to work at. The school are waiting for the final safety checks to be completed before cookery lessons can commence. When the kitchen is complete, invitations will be sent out to all the relevant companies inviting them to see the new kitchen. Julie is sending thank you letters to all the companies involved for their kind donations. J.B-T. Quiz at The Sportsman's Inn, Sandyway Martin at Sandyway has asked if we wanted to do a quiz on Friday 13th November. It was agreed that we would do one and everyone in the PTA who can make that date would put a team together. Sarah has agreed to take team bookings. Julie will contact Martin and confirm the date. Everyone at the meeting has agreed to donate a prize for the raffle. Julie will ask Gareth Clark if he can be the Quiz master again. J.B-T. Theatre Trip A theatre production is coming to the school on the 9th December and the school have asked if the PTA would be willing to pay £350 for this. It was agreed we would. Halloween Disco Carly Clark is organising a Halloween disco at the Sports Club again this year so it was decided that the PTA would not organise one this year but try and organise one for Christmas instead. Julie will ask Mrs Hawkins if it would be possible to have one on the last week of term. J.B-T. Storage of Freezer We need to find a new home for the freezer as Mrs Courtney has now finished with it. Julie will ask Mrs Hawkins if it is possible to keep it in the new kitchen. Wish List Mrs Hawkins has given Julie a wish list. It was agreed that the school could purchase the following from the list: 4 sets of clipboards £ 224.75 Sound system for the hall £ 577.89 Bikes/scooters £ 483.90 ------------£1,286.54 ======== Future Meetings Mrs Hawkins is not available to attend meetings on Thursday's but is available on Monday's and Tuesday's. Sarah is unavailable on a Monday so we will try to organise our meetings on Tuesday's. Future Fundraising Events Kate Kellaway and Debbie Tapp would like to organise an auction. This will take some time to organise so Kate and Debbie are going to look into it. Future Projects Now the kitchen is completed the PTA agreed it would be nice to begin fundraising for an outdoor project for the school. A lot of schools have forest schools now and it would be great if North Molton School could look into having one. Kate is going to find out about the willow making kits. We will bring this up at the next meeting when Mrs Hawkins is present. In the meantime the committee will find out what other schools have done and collect information. K.K. AOB Sherry would like to purchase a smoothie maker or a badge maker machine with the money she donated to the PTA from her Christmas stall. Next Meeting: Tuesday 3rd November at 2:15pm
