**Reminders: Water play will be on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Please make sure you have sent in a bathing suit and
a beach towel for your child to keep here at school for the summer. We will launder their items at the school Our
designated field trip days will be on Wednesday’s (2-3 per month). Stay tuned for upcoming field trips Throughout this
week, we will be working on the following concepts and activities:
In our early literacy groups, we will discuss windy weather.



We will create a sailboat craft, as we finger paint and cut out half circles and triangles.
We will create a kite craft, as we cut out diamonds and decorate with art materials.
We will create 2 graphs: The first graph will be of items that we predict will blow in the wind, versus, items that will
not blow in the wind. The second graph will be the results of our predictions.
While at home or in the community, you can: make plastic bag kites, using yarn to tie the handles of the bag.
Take the kids outside on a windy day to see if their bag kites will work. You may also have your children make a wind kite, by
gluing streamers to the inside of a paper plate, then, folding the paper plate in half, to be used as a handle.
In our cognitive learning groups, we will review the letter “T”, its sound, and words that begin with T.
We will
also create art activities out of the letter “T”.
 We will create a turtle craft, as we cut out the letter, the head, the tail, a shell, and 4 feet.
 We will create a turkey craft, as we cut out the letter, a small triangle, a gobbler, yellow, orange, and red leaves, and 2
feet.
 We will create a train track, as we cut out the letter, glue lines around the perimeter of the letter, and add pretzel
sticks.
 We will engage in a game with rules, as we play the ABC Bingo game, with sounds, and words for each letter.
While out in the community or at home, you can point out different things that begin with the letter “T”. Read
books about turkey’s, turtles, trains, etc. You can take your child to the zoo to ride the train or to a pond to look for turtles.
In our handwriting groups, we will work on writing the number 8, as well as, lower-case “t”. We will also review
the correct writing for upper-case “T”.
 We will use wooden pieces to form the number “8”.
 We will trace the number “8”, with highlighters, as well as, write numbers 1-8, from a model.
 We will use play-do to form the number “8”, as well as, practice writing with chalk on our slate boards.
 We will copy lower-case “t” from a written model, as well as copy the words: cot, tot, cow, and wow.
 We will create a spider craft, out of the number “8”
 We will copy our first and last names from a written model.
 We will practice writing letter “t” sight words: to, the, this, that
While at home or in the community, you can practice writing the number “8”, upper-case “T” , and lower-case “t” in
sand, shaving cream, or rice. You can also provide a variety of tools, such as markers, pencils, pens, paint brushes, etc. for
them to use. Finally, you can also use pipe cleaners, craft sticks or straws to build the letter, as well as, roll play-do out to form
the number and letter. Finally, you can practice counting 8 objects and adding objects together.
*We look forward to a fun, exciting, and successful summer with your child.
