Option#1
Build a Ziggurat-see page 81 of textbook for ideas. The model must
be 3 dimensional. You may use blocks, paper, cardboard or any
other creative idea. The model needs to brought to class on or
before Tuesday September 11th, 2012 and shared with the class.
Option#2
Cuneiform writing-develop your own picture or symbol language
and write a common song, document or saying on a clay tablet. See
the example in the textbook on page 82. You need to also provide a
key so the class can figure out the code. The writings need to be
school appropriate. The tablet needs to be brought to class on
or before Tuesday September 11th, 2012 and shared with the class.
Option#3
After reading the “An Eye for and Eye” on page 85 in the textbook,
compare that judicial approach to penalties for small crimes today.
Give 5 examples of school rules and the punishment giving now
and what the punishment might have been in ancient times. Give 5
examples of minor crimes i.e. speeding, parking illegally, jay
walking; giving both the current punishment and the ancient
punishment. Present your ideas to the class verbally or visually on
Tuesday September 11th, 2012.
Option#4
Research and give a presentation on King Solomon. Find out how
many wives and mistresses he had. What is this practice called and
do people still practice the policy of having multiple wives today?
Where is it practiced? What do you think of this practice? Present
your findings to the class verbally on Tuesday September 11th,
2012.
