EHS Baseball Booster Club March 9, 2015 Meeting Minutes Members Present: Dave Hinkle, Michele Hinkle, Beth Tucker, Pete Tucker, Gayle Cichocki, Shana Ramesh, Eric Marsh, and Michelle Marsh Also Present: Coach Mike Mihalik Web Coordinator Report (Karen Schichtl): ABSENT – Covered by Dave Hinkle The only new information was the addition of an annual sponsor to the website, Breakthrough Therapeutics. Secretary Report (Dave Hinkle): There were no concerns with the meeting minutes from February. Treasurers Report (Shana Ramesh): Current balance in the account is $11,663.30. All money has been collected from Applebee’s gift cards and 2 annual sponsors, (Eric Marsh & Breakthrough Therapeutics). A check in the amount of $205.00 was sent for the club’s insurance. Coaches Report: Mike Mihalik Coach reported that 37-38 coaches attended the coach’s clinic on the 28th. $600.00+ dollars was raised and used to purchase the following equipment: iPad and tripod for JV o This gives both JV and varsity an iPod for players to keep the book during games and possibly videotape players. This would allow coach the ability to watch players from both teams and comment on their performance. dugout jackets for coaches Gamechanger will be used this year to track players and have stats readily available for them online after each game. Old Business Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast Date has been confirmed for Sunday April 26th from 8:00-10:00. Tickets will be ready for distribution Wednesday night to the players. Adults are $7.00 and kids are $5.00. We will be asking each player to sell a minimum of 5 tickets. Spikes Schuylkill Valley Sports will be supplying the spikes for both varsity and JV. A representative will bring a left spike of each size to have the players try on to ensure proper sizes are ordered. We will attempt to have the representative at “Meet the Player” since all players will be there. If not, a date will be set to immediately follow a practice. Insurance Banner Dave Hinkle has completed all necessary paperwork and the banner has been ordered. Once received, it will be stored in the shed next to the field and we will be seeking both JV and varsity parents help in hanging and taking down and storing the banner for every home game. Discount Booklets Booklets are in the process of being printed and should be ready early next week. We will be asking each player to sell a minimum of 10 booklets. They are $20.00 each and contain the following businesses: Shepherd Hills Golf, Applebee’s, Buckeye Tavern, Alburtis Tavern, Penn Pizza, Taco Bell, Subway, Dickey’s BBQ, Texas Roadhouse, Volpe’s, Italiano Delight, and The Burgery Company. A representative from the company will make a presentation to the boys once the discount booklets have been received. In addition to baseball, the golf team and students government will also assist in selling the booklets. Meet the Player Meet the Player is set for Wednesday night March 11th starting at 7:00. Anyone who is willing to assist is being asked to arrive shortly after 6:30 to help. The night will consist of opening remarks from Booster Club President Dave Hinkle followed by pizza, drinks, and desserts. Coach Mihalik will introduce both the players and the player’s parents. A short presentation will then be given to the parents explaining the important role of the booster club. New Business Varsity/JV Schedules Varsity games of 3/20, 4/4, 4/11, and 4/13 were recognized as away games in which a small dinner/lunch would be provided for both players and coaches. JV games of 3/20, 4/9, and 4/15 were recognized as away games in which a small dinner/lunch would be provided for both players and coaches. A motion was made by Eric Marsh to have the club pay for these items for the games recognized above. The motion was seconded by Shana Ramesh and a unanimous vote followed. Rob Mazzella will be handing the coordination of purchasing and finding parents to help distribute during these games. Banquet An emergency meeting was held on March 5th in which a unanimous vote changed the date of the banquet to Wednesday June 3rd. At tonight’s meeting it was decided that the doors will open at 6:30 with dinner to begin at 7:00. The menu will be decided at a future meeting. There is a varsity game away at Stroudsburg this night so look for the possibility of this date being changed.
