Silver Award - Are you interested in earning? Yes _____ No _____
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The Girl Scout Silver Award Project
takes hard work and a lot of planning and preparation! To ensure that girls develop the planning, problem solving
and critical thinking skills that they will need in order to create and complete a successful Silver Award project, a girl
must complete a Cadette Journey by earning all the awards, including completing a Take Action Project, which will
serve as great practice for their Silver Award! Once you have completed your Journey, your Silver Award requires
that you address a root issue that you're interested in, has an impact outside of the Girl Scout community, and is
sustainable. It is suggested that you spend a minimum of 50 hours on the project (not including the Journey
time). Before you begin your project, your troop leader must approve your Take Action project.
Which of the following Journeys do you think you’d like to complete?
o aMaze: Explore the twists and turns of getting along, making lasting friendships, and dealing with cliques and
bullies. Some activities could include: ropes course, trust walk, corn maze, movie night/sleepover, games.
o Breathe: Learn about air through observation & experiments and explore issues like pollution, energy
alternatives, making our environment cleaner. Some activities could include: hiking, science experiments, kite
flying, making wind chimes, yoga.
o Media: Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media—for themselves, their
community and the world. Some activities could include: newspaper, radio or tv station tour.
