This year will feature students from our middle school grades as well. Challenges - The ESS Department is continuing to explore intervention programs and re-modeling service delivery for special education students in an effort to reduce the gap between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. Several schools have started to implement inclusive classrooms into the continuum of services available for students with specific learning needs. Successes - Response to Intervention (RTI) programs in speech have shown a reduction in special education referrals for language and articulation concerns. Students are exiting RTI services without the need for formal evaluations.
