Option A: Investigate a significant battle of World War II in which Australians played a significant role.
You must show how your chosen battle was significant to the Australia and Australians. What do we know of the battle today?
Is it remembered? How? What does this tell you about the significance of the battle then and now?
Academic:
General:
You will present the battle as a written report (max. 2,000 words).
You may present the battle in any electronic format e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi, Minecraft etc. or as a written
report. The key factor in choosing your format is: “Can I meet the requirements listed below?”
You should include the following:
A map showing where the battle happened with appropriate labelling.
A description in your own words of what actually happened during the battle (enemy, sequence of events,
objectives of the battle, weapons used, outcome etc.)
An explanation of why the battle was significant to the war and to Australia’s involvement in World War Two.

Your comment on the legacy of the battle in Australia today.
Include relevant maps, photos and diagrams where applicable.
Report Structure (Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion, Headings)
Include a Reference List that has at least 5 sources, with at least one book other than the textbook.

Option B: Investigate a significant person from World War II.
Using your “Who’s Who in World War 2” table, you will choose one person and present a biography. In your research, gather
and examine as much primary evidence as you can. You must select and include primary sources, along with captions.
You must show how your chosen person was significant to the war, i.e. how he affected events of the war. Please don’t say, for
instance, that Hitler started the war and shot himself at the end. How did the decisions of Churchill, Curtin, Hitler, Menzies,
Mussolini, Roosevelt or Stalin affect the course of the war?

You will present the biography as a written report (2,000 words).
You may present the biography in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi or as a written report.
You should include the following:
Pre-adult years (Education & Interests)
Pre-war years
Involvement in World War II
Life after the war
Significance of the person
Use of Primary evidence
Use of images (with captions)
Report Structure (Introduction, Main Body, Conclusion, Headings)
Reference List (5 sources, at least one book other than the textbook)
