Choose one of these homework activities about our topic on Castles:
Make a model of a castle. You can make the whole thing or a particular part, like the drawbridge or a tower.
Create a battle dance – think of the moves that you would need, choose your music and then you could perform it to the class.
Design your own coat of arms. It can be on a shield or flag. You can do it on paper, card or even fabric.
Could you be a Court Jester? You need to perform tricks and entertain the king and his court!
Juggling was always very popular but see what else you can find out and perform.
Write a diary in the day in the life of a knight or a maid.
Make or design a suit of armour or just a helmet.
Create your own medieval dance to music, taking some of the moves we learnt in school to make your own version.
Design and make a weapon e.g. a jousting pole, trebuchet, a bow and arrow…. What would be the best material to use to make one?
Make a trumpet or drum that you can use to welcome the king.
Create a piece of music to play then perform it to the class.
Can you create a battle chant?
Chants and songs were always used to help encourage people as they prepared for battle.
Research a famous knight, eg King
Arthur or Sir Lancelot.
Write your own story about a knight, Princess, dragon…
Write a menu for a medieval banquet.
You could create a castle poem – it might be about what it looks like, maybe down in the dungeons or about attacking a castle
Create a fact sheet about castles.
Draw your own version of the
Bayeux tapestry about another battle or an adventure Robin Hood has.
If you choose to make something, you could bring it in or take a photo of it and stick it in your learning log. If you would like to do an activity that is not on this list that is great. Just write down what you have decided to do.
