Please share this information with any family or friends who are considering schools in the Wanniassa area. National Assessment Program (Literacy and Numeracy) - NAPLAN Testing will be taking place next week, Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th May and will involve students in years 3 and 5 taking part in several assessment papers based around literacy and numeracy. Please ensure participating students have a nourishing breakfast on these days and have a water bottle with them. If you have any concren please speak with an executive teacher. Preschool Enrolments for 2016 Preschool enrolments have commenced for 2016, online enrolments are being accepted for placement consideration this term. Birth certificates and immunisation records will need to be sighted/copied as supporting documents to your application for enrolment. Proof of residency is also required for all enrolments in and out of area. All students who live in the priority enrolment area or have siblings already attending this school are guaranteed a placement whilst there are available places. Camp Cooba Years 5/6 Medical and consent notes have been sent home for the year 5/6 camp. Please complete and return all coloured notes as soon as possible. Keep the payment option dates in mind to ensure full cost is paid by the due date, being Thursday 15th May. Camp is on Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd May, 2015. First Aid and Sick Bay At this time of year there are a number of children with coughs, colds and stomach bugs etc. If you suspect your child is sick in the morning please do not send them to school as they spread the virus to staff and other students. Our sick bay is not able to cope with overwhelming numbers of children who need to rest or sleep, this area is allocated for first aid only. Parents are reminded that Panadol or similar pain relief cannot be administered to children unless sent into school with an authorisation note from a parent or a form is filled in at school when the medication is brought in. The school does not hold children’s Panadol for general use. Second Hand School Clothing Stall We have loads of preloved, warm, clean school uniform items available for a small gold coin donation. Sizes range from 4 to 16 including navy track pants, fleeces and jackets. Lost Property Lost property is kept in the metal cabinet outside Green Unit. Labelled items are returned to students. Any unlabelled items will be cleared at the end of each term and donated to the second hand school clothing stall or to charity. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your childs name. National Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 22 May, 2015 Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual, national event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment. For more details please visit www.walk.com.au Canteen News The canteen is open four days a week, Tuesday - Friday from 9am, with over the counter sales during recess 11 11.30am and lunch 1.10pm - 1.30pm.
