Seeding Dates and Criteria for District IV AA Wrestling/Regionals AA I. Sectionals A. Dates 1. Cut-off date for seeding points for Sectionals is the Saturday before Sectionals (Feb. 8, 2014). 2. Re-scheduled matches can be made up until Tuesday, February 11, 2014. 3. Seeding points are final upon closing of the Becker Networks program on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. 4. No shifting of weight classes is permitted after the seeding is completed in the Becker Network Program (Thursday, February 13, 2014.) Brackets are firm at this point. Replacement for injury and illness is permitted. Note brackets will be reseeded if a wrestler withdrawals, or is disqualified at weigh-ins. 5. Seeding information will be sent out via email and placed on the District webpage by 3:00pm Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. B. Criteria 1. If two boys have the same point total, the higher seed will go to the boy with the greatest number of matches wrestled. 2. Only varsity records can be counted for seeding. 3. All forfeits count on a wrestler's record for seeding. 4. All Must have 12 bouts to get full total if not subtract 8 points for each bout under 12 from total. 5. A wrestler with a zero and zero record goes to the last seed and a boy with an 0-1 or an 0-2 record is seeded before an 0-0 record even though he has minus points. The only exception is unless the boy with 0-0 record has 35 or more points. 6. Seeding in case of tie where wrestlers have equal matches and equal points will be determined by a flip of a coin, by the tournament director. If the two boys have met each other this season, the winner of the match gets the higher seed. If they have not met, the winner of the flip of the coin gets the higher seed. (No choice of coach) Keyword higher.- Rev. Feb. 25, 1983. 7. In the scoring of team points for tournament title, points earned for a bye are scored only when that wrestler wins his next bout. 8. The win via bye does not apply to the individual record. 9. All wrestlers’ will be seeded according to criteria listed above. 5 II. Districts A. Dates 1. Seeding will be completed Sunday, February 16, 2014. 2. Seeding will be released immediately to Coaches and Media after confirmation of accuracy by the District Wrestling Chairman. B. Criteria 1. Points of Emphasis/Change Champions and Runner-ups from the same sectional will NO longer be Separated (October 9, 2013.) In cases where two (2) state place winners are on the same side of the bracket; separation will occur provided a state place winner doesn’t already exist on the opposite side of the bracket, in which case points take precedence (October 9, 2013.) 2. Seeding placement Sectional champions will receive Seeds #1 - #3 respectively according to their sectional seeding points. Sectional runner-ups will receive Seeds #4 - #6 respectively according to their sectional seeding points. Sectional 3rd placers will receive Seeds #7- #9 respectively according to their sectional seeding points. Sectional 4th placers will receive Seeds #10 - #12 respectively according to their sectional seeding points. III.
