Final Assignment- Ancient Cultures “The History of the World According to Me” Due Thursday, May 21, 2015 FOUR-PART ASSIGNMENT Part 1: Comparative Matrix a) Complete your Ancient Civilizations Matrix, using an Excel or Numbers spreadsheet. Be sure to include information and comments for all seven of the ancient civilizations we studied: Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, the ancient Israelites, Greece, and Rome. Part 2: Parallel Eras Timelines Using a Numbers spreadsheet, create parallel timelines, spanning the time period from 1500 B.C. to A.D. 500 for the six civilizations listed below. Indicate significant historical eras for each civilization. (See the yellow bands on pages 506-507 of your textbook.) b) Mesopotamia c) Egypt d) India e) China f) Greece g) Rome Tip: First, create reference markers every 250 years along your timeline. Then, use “objects” to create events that can be positioned on your timeline. AD 117 Part 4: Top 20 Events Timeline Create an event timeline that in your opinion features the top 20 most important events or developments from the ancient history we studied. Events from various civilizations should be interwoven and presented in chronological order. You may elect to do any one of the following options: a) Keynote presentation with a timeline through line on each slide. Include images and captions. b) An illustrated timeline, using paper no larger than 8-1/2” x 11”. Multiple papers may be attached and fan-folded to lengthen your line. Include images and captions. c) Video recording of a successful run of a Rube Goldberg machine that traces in chronological order the top 20 events you have identified. The 20 events must be featured in a series of at least 10 mechanical actions. Include images and captions. Be sure all information is visible and legible in your video.
