Call for Proposals: From International to Transnational: Transforming the Psychology of Women August 4-5, Toronto, Canada The 2015 Society for the Psychology of Women Summit on Transforming the Psychology of Women will be held immediately prior to the 2015 American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention in Toronto, Canada. The goal of the Summit is to foster new directions in the psychology of women through exploration and awareness of international perspectives. The Summit’s programming will include a keynote speaker, work groups, and a social hour/poster session. What makes this Summit unique is its action-oriented approach—Work groups comprised of women in different stages in their careers will be formed to develop specific products (e.g., a book, special journal issue, CE program, undergraduate and graduate curriculum, best practices guide, etc.) and long-term goals that promote the transformation of the psychology of women. Work Groups will meet all day on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 and in the morning on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015. The theme for the Summit is “From International to Transnational: Transforming the Psychology of Women.” The Summit will address this theme through four different tracks: undergraduate and graduate curriculum, practice, policy, and research. The Summit is being organized by the Society for the Psychology of Women (SPW) (APA Division 35) Task Force comprised of individuals from SPW the International Committee of Women of APA Division 52, the Global Issues Committee of APA SPW The Society for Counseling Psychology (APA Division 17), the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race (APA Division 45), and the Division on International Psychology (APA Division 52), APA’s International Office, the APA United Nations Representatives, APA’s Committee on International Relations in Psychology (CIRP), APA Committee on Socioeconomic Status, and members of the International Council of Psychologists. We are currently accepting two types of submissions for the Summit. 1. Work Groups Work Groups on four tracks (undergraduate and graduate curriculum, practice, policy, and research) will be formed and participants will sign up for a group prior to the Summit. Work Groups will focus on specific projects or subtopics and work toward developing specific products (e.g., a book, special journal issue, CE program, undergraduate and graduate curriculum, best practices guide, etc.) during the Summit. For example, a work group on “gender responsive training programs in transnational settings” under the curriculum track may put together an edited book on this topic. Work Groups will meet all day on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 and in the morning on Wednesday, August 5th, 2015. Work Group submission should include: a. The track that the Work Group will address (undergraduate and graduate curriculum, practice, policy, research) b. The title of the Work Group c. A summary of specific project or subtopic that the Work Group will focus on (150-300 words) d. A description of products that the Work Group will aim to achieve (150 words) e. The full name, address, affiliation and bio (250 words) of the Work Group facilitator(s) *Participants will choose their work group when they register for the Summit. 2. Poster Discussion Session A Poster Session is a format that allows for extended discussion of the presentation with the author. Posters may include illustrative materials such as text, tables, graphs, and data. The Poster session will take place on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 during the social hour. Poster submissions must include: a. The title of the Poster b. An abstract of the poster (150-300 words). Submissions presenting research should be formatted to include the following elements: background, methods, results, and conclusions. c.
