Forest Carbon Cycle: Passport Chart
Instructions
1. Go to a forest carbon cycle station. Write down the information from the station in the
START row. Note there will be no process available in the START row.
2. Choose a “forest carbon cycle” ticket from the box/bag. Follow the instructions on the
ticket.
3. Fill-in the information from the ticket in the next row. (and so on)
 Earth Spheres = Biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere(upper soil
section of Geosphere)
 Biosphere Processes = photosynthesis, respiration, ingestion(eating),
death/decomposition, excretion/defecation, carbon fixation
 Physical/Chemical Processes = Diffusion, combustion
 Length of time for carbon storage = days, months, years, decades, 100 years or
more. *Note: If the “time” information is not given, take your best guess.
