Chinese Martial Arts Tournament (CMAT) Committees Logistics Logistics manages and orders all necessary supplies and materials for the tournament based on doing an inventory of current supplies and the needs of the other committees. A straightforward job, but difficult due to the large number of items being managed Workload - fairly even throughout the year. otherwise, mostly dependent on the orders that the other committees have. This is of course until about a week before the tournament. It gets a bit busier when you’re trying to make sure all orders came in. Then its really busy the day before, and the day of CMAT. You are responsible for leading setup of the competition floor, and for knowing where things are during the tournament so people don’t have to look. Publicity and Advertising Publicity and Advertising is in charge of publicizing the tournament to all possible attendees through various means. Additionally, they are responsible for selling advertising space and finding other sponsors for the tournament. Workload - fairly even throughout the year. Tends to slightly pick up about a month before the tournament. Visual Media Visual Media is responsible for creating all visual media related to CMAT such as flyers, t-shirts, medals, tournament programs, look of tournament website, posters, etc. Workload - fairly even workload up till the date of the tournament, starts immediately with the tournament website Volunteering Volunteering is in charge of finding volunteers for the tournament, and scheduling them the day of the tournament. This includes recruiting from other martial arts clubs (TKD is traditionally a large source of volunteers) and student organizations. Workload - busy as the tournament approaches and very busy during the day of the tournament. Security Security ensures that tournament attendees do not enter prohibited areas for their safety, or practice weapons in the middle of the hallway, etc. During the day, the security committee must fill all necessary posts. Workload - heavy the day of the tournament Hospitality Hospitality provides the accommodations for the judges and volunteers. This includes ordering a sufficient number of meals, snacks, and water for all judges and volunteers. Also accommodates VIPs with travel and hotel arrangements. Workload - begins mostly in second semester. mostly ordering of materials. Medical The medical committee ensures that there are enough medical supplies and qualified medical staff for the day of the tournament to treat any injuries that may come that day. Workload - fairly even throughout the year. Staff is intended to stay in medical area for the entire tournament. Registration Registration is in charge of the registration and payment of competitors, and answers any questions competitors may have about the tournament. Sets up online payment system. Workload - increasing workload as tournament approaches IT The IT committee manages the tournament scoring/judging software and maintains the tournament website. Additionally, IT will control the video board the day of the tournament. IT committee members should have knowledge of website coding and maintenance (LAMP is our current weapon of choice). Workload - even workload months prior to the tournament. must ensure reliability of the software and computer network the day of the tournament International Relations The International Relations committee serves as the primary liaison to any international competitors. This includes, but is not limited to, contacting international competitors to invite them to come to our tournament, assisting them with any documents they need to obtain a visa, and taking care of them on the day of the tournament. Workload - most of the work occurs months prior to the tournament, where invitations are sent and arrangements are made Judging The Judging committee contacts judges to help the day of the tournament. The judging committee contacts judges, informing them about the tournament. Later on, the committee will confirm and reconfirm the judges presence prior to our tournament. Workload - increasing workload as the tournament approaches. a couple of calling parties as well as answering judges' questions throughout the year. as the tournament approaches, organize the judges' shifts. during the day of the tournament, check in judges and bring them to their proper ring.
