Resolution Honoring the Life of William Whetstone

WHEREAS: Professor William Whetstone served California State University Dominguez Hills
faithfully and with distinction for over twenty-four years; and
WHEREAS: Professor William Whetstone taught in the Statewide Nursing Program in the School of
Nursing since 1990 where he taught for twenty-four years;
WHEREAS: Professor William Whetstone dedicated his life to healthcare and education,
beginning as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and continuing as he obtained a
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University, a Master’s of Public Health and a
PhD in Higher Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s of Nursing in Mental
Health from the University of Michigan;
WHEREAS: Professor William Whetstone contributed in many way to the university as teacher and
member of the University community; and
WHEREAS: Regrettably Professor William Whetstone passed away in November 2014; therefore,
be it,
RESOLVED: That the California State University, Dominguez Hills Academic Senate mourn the
passing of Professor William Whetstone, honor his many accomplishments and contributions to our
campus, and extend condolences to his friends, colleagues, and the students he inspired.
