Reporting to: Graduate School Learning Technology Consultant The Purpose of the Role: The purpose of the role is to support the Graduate School’s researcher development activities and provision. To use a range of appropriate technologies to support the continued expansion of the online learning portfolio and to promote Graduate School’s activities to the researcher community, University staff working with researchers and external stakeholders with an interest in the broader research and Graduate School portfolio. To help deliver the Graduate School research training activities and communications plan using a broad range of relevant media to ensure that researchers can easily access and use Graduate School provision, and that stakeholders are kept up to date with Graduate School activities in a relevant and timely manner. Develop and maintain the Graduate School’s workspaces, websites and social media channels to support the researcher community and promote the Graduate School’s provision both internally and externally.. Ensure that the Graduate School makes innovative use of technology to support and communicate with the researcher community Liaise with and support Graduate School staff (including those on the international campuses) in relation to content development and provide technical support to other Graduate School teams and projects. Support the Graduate School’s Learning Technology Consultant in the delivery, testing and administration of the online learning portfolio in the University of Nottingham’s VLE. Provide support for webinars and other online events. Manage and support the Bristol Online Surveys tool and the implementation of the national researcher surveys (PTES, PRES and CROS) on behalf of the institution, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate. Monitor the effectiveness of the various technologies in achieving their objectives and suggest changes to ensure a process of continuous development and improvement. Any other duties as appropriate to the role and level. % time per year 30% 15% 15% 10% 20% 5% 5% Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Essential Qualifications/ Educated to HND/HNC/A level standard or Education equivalent, with GCSE’s in English and Maths, or demonstrably relevant experience Knowledge/ IT, web and online learning knowledge Skills/Training including: Strong general IT skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages Word/PowerPoint/Excel Familiarity with the most popular social media tools and the way in which they are used Knowledge of basic HTML Expertise in web content management Experience with one or more VLEs Desirable Knowledge of University accessibility and branding standards Experience in photo editing, image creation and presentation Adobe InDesign knowledge Contensis CMS expertise Familiarity with Moodle High level of numeracy and proven ability to manipulate figures and data with ease, using spreadsheets and databases Very strong attention to detail. Very strong administration skills. Strong English language skills and the ability to quickly create concise, precise and accurate content suitable for the web and social media from a range of provided sources with minimal supervision. Ability to work with little supervision, to define priorities and work flexibly and effectively under pressure. Excellent communicator with a willingness to provide help and support to others. Experience Sufficient relevant work experience, in particular experience of producing web-based materials to high standards and tight deadlines, to ensure delivery of a high quality product.
