“these are just ordinary friendships that come from the bond you develop with the guys next to you that you go to battle for every time you hit the ice” The 2013/2014 season will be Jon Krall’s first with the Cyclones. Krall grew up in the Detroit area and played his youth hockey from squirt to Midget AAA with Little Caesars and Compuware. He also played Junior A for the Compuware Ambassadors and the Cleveland Barons. After 4 years as a Wisconsin Badger, Krall had a brief career professionally in the ECHL with the Las Vegas Wranglers. Krall is motivated to coach because he wants to share his experience as a player with kids. He is aware of what worked for him as a player and what did not. “ I like to break the game down to its’ simplest form and master the elements of the game. To me, the ability to master the things that seem tedious and redundant, are the things that help players advance…from youth to junior, junior to college, college to pro etc…. I value hard work and the rewards that that come from putting in the time.” In the quote at the top of the page Krall is referring the lasting friendships he has from playing hockey. He still keeps in touch with a handful of teammates from years past. Krall chose the Cyclones because of the family atmosphere and the professionalism of the organization. “My players will be exposed to a demanding coach, who will do his best to translate and pass down the qualities that hockey players need to have to be successful both on and off the ice. My players will have fun and will find out that it’s not just about practice at the rink that makes a good hockey player but also the things you do every day on your own when nobody is watching that make the difference.” Krall played defense so it is no surprise his favorite player is Niklas Lidstrom and his favorite team is the Detroit Red Wings. He is single.
