WOMEN IN PROPERTY
We are delighted to be an Endorser of the Built Environment Category in
partnership with Bradshaw Property Associates who are the sponsor for
this category in 2010. We wish to encourage all members to consider
nominating themselves or colleagues as well as calling on employers to
acknowledge the often hidden pool of talent within their offices. The
Award recognises excellence and celebrates the achievements of senior
and partner-level professionals working in London’s business hubs.
Woman of Achievement Award 2010
2010 is the fourth year of the Women in the City Awards Programme. The
Woman of Achievement Award (incorporating the Category Awards)
was launched in 2007. Carol Bell from RLF was the winner of the Property
Category in 2008.
AWARD CRITERIA
In order to be considered for an award, Applicants should
 be based in the City of London, Canary Wharf or London’s West
End.
 work at senior or partner level in one of the Award Categories
 be practising in and hold a professional qualification recognised in
the award category
This Award is intended to recognise women who, in addition to their
technical role, are going above and beyond to support the progress of
women. Therefore, women working in roles where their main purpose
is to encourage workplace diversity (eg HR, Diversity) are NOT eligible.
Applicants must be able to show evidence of meeting the Women in the
City award criteria:
 Leadership ability
 Commitment to developing females in their own team and/or within
their organisation
 Ability to build, nurture and leverage networks
And in order to go forward for consideration for the Woman of
Achievement Award, they will need to have


Impact and visibility in their sector
Willingness to support progress of women in the wider business
world
The Categories represented are:
Accountancy
Built Environment (including architecture, surveying, structural
engineering)
Facilities Management (typically, but not exclusively, out-sourced, noncore services, including for example catering, cleaning, security,
mailroom, and health & safety)
Financial Services
Insurance
Legal Services

THE JUDGING PROCESS: Timetable
A 3-stage judging process is planned
1.
The first stage, involving a review by the Main Judging Panel of
the Paper Documentation submitted by the Applicant, to determine
a maximum of 6 candidates to go forward to the Endorser Panel.
These become the Candidates for the awards.
2.
The second stage The Candidates are interviewed by their
respective Endorser Panels on Monday morning, 18 October 2010 in
Central London
3.
The third stage: Category Winners are eligible to go forward for
the Woman of Achievement Award and will each be interviewed by a
member of the Main Judging Panel whose recommendation for
the winner will be put forward to the other Main Judging Panel
members for a decision. The Panel is chaired by Prof Susan
Vinnicombe OBE, Director of the International Centre for Women
Leaders at Cranfield School of Management and producer of the
Female FTSE Report.
ANNOUNCEMENTS OF WINNERS
The Category Winners will be announced at the end of October with the
Woman of Achievement being announced to the press in the week leading
up to and embargoed until the date of Awards Ceremony which will be
part of the Annual Celebration Lunch taking place on 26th November
2010 at Plaisterers’ Hall, London. To book a place and for further
