Senior Observer/ Trainer

Serve as an Observer / Controller Trainer (OC-T) with the Gaming Lane of the IED Defeat training

Lane Observer Controller Team (IEDD-OCT) in support of Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) training at specified training locations.

The overall goal is to provide expertise and training to Army units deploying to an operational theater on efficient and effective utilization of the IED Defeat Operations. The position integrates gaming software Virtual Battle Space 3 (VBS3)) based applications into training at the crawl to walk stage which allows teams, crews, squads, and platoons to rehearse and validate their unit C-IED SOPs prior to live training.

OC-T Basic

Responsible for analyzing the unit’s performance during gaming lane training and gaming environment exercises through every phase of each mission. Provides subject matter expertise involving doctrine, TTP, tactical planning on IED Defeat operations. The OC/T provides in-depth advice, counsel, and assistance to exercise unit operations personnel before, during, and after

gaming exercises. In addition provides in-depth assessments, oral and written, of unit performance. Provide feedback to the unit using the After Action Review process at the completion of the exercise. OC/T fulfils the roll of coach, mentor, and teacher for unit IED-

Defeat skills and tasks using correct doctrine, techniques, and procedures to ensure units are combat ready. The OC/T is responsible for gathering, developing, organizing, and disseminating information on current enemy and friendly trends, TTPs, and operations.

Game/ SIM Specific

The OC/T uses a game based software application (VBS3) to train units preparing for deployment on

IED-D. The OC/T develops scenarios with the gaming software applications and is capable of modifying existing scenarios for unit identified training objectives. The OC/T uses the tools of the game based software application for the After Action Review (AAR) process and scenario development.

United States Marine Corps

I retired from the US Marine Corps on 31 November 2012.

Programs and Requirements Chief

Marine Forces Command, Norfolk, VA

(Jan 2009-Oct 31, 2012)

Ensured that 251 Marine Corps units are adequately equipped with current, up-to-date

Intelligence equipment in order to support the Marine Expeditionary Forces, Marine Forces, and

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

Served as subject matter expert for the US Marine Corps Program Objective Memorandum (POM)

11-14 conferences and provided advice and counsel on the future needs of USMC intelligence programs. The POM is a recommendation from the Services and Defense Agencies to the

Secretary of Defense concerning how they plan to allocate resources to meet the Service

Program Guidance (SPG) and Joint Programming Guidance (JPG).

Represented the USMC intelligence community at the Project Liberty MC-12 aircraft and Gorgon

Stare Wide Area Surveillance Sensor Working Group Meetings, providing select Marine Corps advice to Air Force members. This advice allows Air Force equipment to provide better collection capabilities to fit the unique Marine Corps mission, thus saving costs and providing joint capabilities.

Adaptive and innovative- While Marines were conducting an offensive engagement during OEF; remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) in theater and the 480 th Intelligence, Surveillance and

Reconnaissance Wing at Langley AFB, VA supported the imagery analysis. As the senior enlisted

Marine Imagery Analyst and direct liaison between the ground troops and RPA personnel, I provided on-site mission critical information to the 480 th thereby streamlining the support process, improving communications, C-IED TTPs, and combat capability of both the ground troops and the RPA personnel.

Taught classes at Langley AFB, VA, for Air Force senior enlisted and officers deploying to support ground combat operations in the OEF on the US Marine Corps structure; USMC intelligence

Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.

As Secondary Control Point Officer, accountable for security of all classified materials in the USMC intelligence section at US Marine Forces Command.

Supervised and quality controlled the Marine Forces Command Classified Daily Intelligence Digest for the Commanding General, Marine Forces Command, keeping the Command aware of important current events happening worldwide.

Distributed the product throughout the command via email.

Assisted in the creation of an Excel document that will provide the instantaneous status of intelligence equipment for more than 251 units. Will allow the Marine Forces Command

Intelligence commander to immediately determine the equipment status of its intelligence units and their readiness; identify readiness status; target shortfalls, and allow better management of intelligence systems.

Created numerous after action reports for conferences attended that were instrumental in decision making by the Director of intelligence of Marine Forces Command

Imagery Analyst Chief

1st Intelligence Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA

Analyzed and exploited collected data with electro optical; infrared; Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery utilizing Database Organizer (DBO)), Image Product Library (IPL); Remote View Electronic Light

Table; Web Access Retrieval Portal (WARP); PPS Socet Set GXP; and other systems needed to support collection requirements.

Supervised and coordinated the platoon daily intelligence production in support of the 1 st Marine

Expeditionary Forces and its Major Supported Command; the Special Operation Training Group; and Mojave Viper exercises that provided training prior to units deploying into theater to include C-IED imagery intelligence.

Supplemented the Intelligence Battalion Forward (FWD)--deployed in theater-- by supervising the input of three months of Multinational Forces West combat incident reports into the

Intelligence Analysis Console, in support of Iraqi Freedom.

Coordinated and supervised training for 14 imagery analysts newly assigned to the Imagery

Interpretation Platoon.

Port of Entry Transition Team 4252

Walid, Al Anbar, Iraq

(Combat experience) (Nov 2007-Dec 2008)

Trained and advised members from four Iraqi intelligence agencies: the National Information and

Investigative Agency (NIIA); the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS); The Inspector General (IG); and

Internal Affairs (IA).

Participated in the capture and detainment of 17 High Value Individuals suspected of terrorism by the Government of Iraq.

Served as an official witness in the trial of one captured High Value Individual. The trial was held in the Central Criminal Courts of Iraq in Baghdad and resulted in his imprisonment.

Patrol leader for more than 40 combat patrols in hostile territory.

Convoy Commander for one mounted patrol; and Vehicle Commander for one mounted patrol that conducted resupply and maintenance operations.

Coordinated requests for imagery and data; traveled Fallujah to retrieve the products and deliver them back to Walid, Iraq; critical products needed to do our job.

Participated in pre-deployment combat simulators to include C-IED TTPs, vehicle convoys TTPs, call for fire simulations, and combat scenarios.

combat patrolling.

Employed C-IED TTPs while on over 100 combat patrols on the Iraqi / Syrian border.

Instructed Iraqi nationals in combat patrolling, C-IED TTPS, convoy operations, and artillery call for fire.

Created detailed after action reports for all patrols, detainees captured, and end of combat deployment to help ensure the future success of follow on forces to Walid, Iraq.
