1. Have each student come to the front table one at a time and pick from three
different colors of construction paper. They should also retrieve their Styrofoam cup.
2. Have the students pick up a white piece of construction paper as well.
They should have a pair of scissors and a glue stick with them at their seat.
3. Have the students take their materials back to their desk.
4.
Tell them to trace the top of the Styrofoam cup on their paper 5 times.
5. Repeat step 4 with all the different colors of construction paper. (They should have
a total of 15 circles, 5 from each of the 3 different colored pieces of construction paper.)
6. Use the scissors to cut out all the 15 different colored circles they have just traced.
7. Throw the extra pieces of scrap construction paper away.
8. Glue the 15 circles on the white piece of paper in a pattern. Make sure to tell the
students to keep the pattern the same and that their pattern will look differently from the
other students around them.
9. Students will then use a mindmeister mind map to record data about each color. The
students will label each color and then think of objects that are each specific color. The
teacher will assess the mind maps to make sure each object is the appropriate color.
A worksheet of colors will be handed out and each student will be grades on the correct
classification of each color.
