Development Executive (Research & Stewardship) Role Description Grade & Salary: Campus Location: Line Manager: Line Management Responsibility for: Role Summary: Grade 5, £30,738 - £36,672 per annum Sighthill Head of External Engagement N/A Responsible for creating, developing and managing the University’s prospect research strategy and supporting the Fundraising Team’s moves management as part of the ER&C team; this will include developing systems to identify potential supporters (high-net worth individuals, trust and corporations); recommending the tools required to implement this; and supporting aspects of cultivation and stewardship programmes (including events) for prospects and donors. The role holder will be expected to develop a comprehensively analysed prospect base – through proactive research – capable of providing financial support for Edinburgh Napier’s funding priorities and campaign. Main Duties and Responsibilities (summary, full job description attached) Develop and manage a research strategy, which will continually identify a comprehensive list of potential donors capable of providing financial support for Edinburgh Napier’s range of fundraising priorities and the Transforming Tomorrow, Together Campaign, both at home and overseas. Develop individual donor plans and solicitation strategies for identified prospects in partnership with the fundraising team, including the Director of ER&C. Identify and subscribe to specialist software and other relevant research tools and resources, which are capable of underpinning the research strategy. This will include reading daily newspapers, magazines, periodicals and relevant web sites and responding to relevant articles, either by informing others of a suggested action or drafting correspondence, as well as analysing web-based databases and data mining. Responsible for developing a stewardship plan for middle, major and leadership donors – including a calendar of communications – as well as cultivation plan for prospects and influencers, ensuring that fundraising staff manage the programme for their own prospects. Liaise with the Operations Team to ensure that database systems are in place to manage this process. Active role as part of the Fundraising Team working closely with fundraising staff to ensure a clear understanding of fundraising priorities, which will allow the identification/matching of potential prospects to relevant projects, as well as liaising with internal academics and administrative departments, and the Principal’s Office to research links between the University and individuals, trusts and corporations. Manage the moves management process, ensuring that all prospects are moving through the different solicitation stages in a timely manner, that proposal are being developed and asks made, including planning and Chairing prospect meetings and liaising with the Operations Team to ensure that appropriate database systems are in place to produce reports and monitor approaches. Manage the Prospect Management System, ensuring that data integrity is maintained and that the ‘moves’ management process is efficient and effective. Using this system, create prospect/donor management reports, as requested, for the fundraising team. Responsible for inputting into guest lists and table plans for high profile events. Preparing briefing notes on guests for staff and influencers. Undertake necessary training to keep up-to-date with developments in fundraising, data protection and freedom of information. Carry out any other duties as specified by the Head of External Engagement including providing some administrative and event support where needed.
