Sample Fundraiser Letter
Below is a sample letter to use should you choose to fundraise for your mission. The areas
highlighted in yellow need to be changed to reflect the details about your specific mission. It is
very important anyone donating on your behalf must indicate who the donation is for,
otherwise it will not be credited towards your mission.

In <month> of <year>, I am volunteering with a <specialty> surgical team traveling to <Tarija,
Bolivia or Jinotega, Nicaragua> for a <# of days>-day medical mission with the non-profit,
Esperança, Inc.
Esperança is a global health organization that is dedicated to serving the poorest areas of the
world by providing health care and life saving surgeries. They send 14-16 volunteer surgical
teams each year to remote villages in Bolivia and Nicaragua in order to perform greatly needed
surgical procedures. In 2012, they operated on over 600 patients and provided 1,600 exams
and consultations. They have been given 4-stars by Charity Navigator for the last five years,
which is the highest rating a charity can receive.
Esperança utilizes much of its donated funds to cover the expenses of the surgical missions
(operating rooms, volunteer lodgings, local transportation, etc) while volunteers must pay for
their own travel in addition to gathering the supplies and medications needed for the
surgeries.
I am trying to raise <amount> to be able to cover the cost of my expenses which includes
airfare, visa, and lodging. I would appreciate any donations that you are able to make to help

and your donations are 100% tax-deductible.
