Step into the wonderful world of books this Easter to meet characters, storytellers, illustrators and authors at Eureka! during their event Once Upon a Time, running from Saturday 28 March right through to Sunday 19 April. The Eureka! storytellers will be inviting visitors to Tell a Tale Together in interactive storymaking sessions where they’ll create a unique tale every time. Plus, each day will welcome different well-known literary characters, so you never know who you could meet as you explore the grounds and galleries! From Friday 10 to Monday 13 April they’ll be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice in Wonderland with Storymagic Theatre who’ll be running their unique family shows. The popular children’s museum is also hosting their very own mini literature festival, with a programme of appearances from children’s writers and illustrators sharing their inspiring, creative work with visitors, including 2015 Blue Peter Book Awards winner Andy Seed. Saturday 28 March - Jan Michael Launching the event is acclaimed children’s author Jan Michael, who has written more than thirteen books including several titles for children. Jan will be talking about her book ‘Moorside Boy’ which tells the tale of Percy, who has moved to Seggleswick in the Yorkshire Dales with his mother. Jan has donated all proceeds from the sale of ‘Moorside Boy’ to the NSPCC. http://www.jan-michael.co.uk/ Tuesday 31 March - Andy Thompson Andy is an animator, illustrator, cartoonist and manga artist. His animation work includes many films including Sweeney Todd, The Chronicles of Narnia, Where the Wild Things Are and Harry Potter. The emphasis is on humour and fun, but also features lots of interesting facts as well as stories and poems. Join in a fun drawing and guessing game, then go wild sketching yourself with creature features, using simple speech bubbles to growl, grunt and giggle. Jim's graphic novel Playing Out was shortlisted for the Young People's British comic Awards 2013, and Frontiebacks won the Junior Design Awards Best Children’s Book 2014.
