Northeast Junior District Auditions
Date: Saturday, January 30th, 2015

Who: Girls in 7th and 8th grade. Boys in any grade.

About Jr. Districts
Every year, the most dedicated music students in our area come to
audition in hopes of being part of the Northeast Junior District Chorus.
Those who pass the audition are invited to join the top singers from 58
surrounding cities/towns to rehearse and perform a concert in April! This
is a high-level audition, and everything must be prepared entirely on
your own, preferrably with the help of a private voice teacher.

NOTE: There is a limited number of girls that the district is allowed to
take from each school. Therefore, if there are more than 3 girls per voice
part (soprano/alto) who are interested in auditioning, there will be a preaudition with Mr. Coombs in November. This will help us determine which
students will be registered for the audition. There is no limit to the
number of boys who may audition. The dealine to turn in commitment
forms to Mr. Coombs is Friday, November 13th.
Preparing for Northeast Junior District Auditions
STEP 1
Visit the following website with a parent/guardian and read ALL information about
auditions and festival:

Confirm with a parent/guardian that you are able to…
-Prepare the piece ON YOUR OWN (private teacher recommended)
-Commit to the audition date AND festival rehearsal/concert dates
STEP 2
Sign the attached Commitment Form and return it to Mr. Coombs no later than
November 13th
STEP 3
Pick up a copy of the sheet music. Spectrum Music in Lexington is a reliable vendor,
but you may purchase a copy anywhere you like.

STEP 4
Practice, practice, practice! The most effective way to practice is to study with a
private voice teacher. For additional practice at home with accompaniment, visit

STEP 5 – GIRLS ONLY
Attend the pre-audition on the morning of Wednesday, November 19th at 7:00am
You must be prepared to sing at least the first two pages at this time.
STEP 6
Once Mr. Coombs determines who gets registered to audition, those students must
turn in a check for $13 and all forms/permission slips for the audition (separate).
STEP 6
If you are registered, keep practicing for the big day on Saturday, January 30!
