Workshop : Clinical Reasoning for Identification of Trigger Points in Headache Prof. Dr. César Fernández de las Peñas Clinical and scientific evidence suggests a potential role of myofascial trigger points (TrPs) in different headaches, i.e., tension-type headache and migraine. However, the etiologic role of TrPs is different depending on what headache presents the patients. For instance, in tension-type headache TrPs can be one of the main causes of central sensitization, whereas in migraine TrP can be a precipitating or contributing factor for activating the trigemino-vascular system. In addition, those muscles involved in either headache can be slightly different. This brief practical workshop will discuss clinical presentation of tension-type, migraine and cervicogenic headache and proper clinical reasoning for identification of TrPs in these headache disorders.
