FORGIVEABLE EDUCATION LOANS FOR SERVICE

Qualified students committed to working in North Carolina in fieldsthat have a critical need for
more employees, such as nursing, teaching allied health fields, or medicine, may apply for a
FELS loan. Recipients must agree to pay back the loan after graduation either by working a year
in an approved position in NC for each academic year of funding received or repay the loan in
cash. It is a need-based scholarship.

education in the state.
2) Must enroll in an accounting degree program (2 or 4-year) with six or more credit hours
per semester.
3) Must show a firm intention to continue into the field of Accounting.

1) Applications are for active and associate members, their spouses, and dependent
children. Parents or guardian must be a member of SEANC to be eligible.
2) May apply for one of three types of scholarships: financial need, merit, or member only.
3) May be used at a 2-or 4-year college.
4) Must be enrolled as a full-time student.
5) Please note that the member must be part of the “association”, not a member at the “State
Employee’s Bank.”

1) Son or daughter of an active duty, retired, or deceased member of the United
States Armed Forces (proof required).
2) Must be a graduating high school senior from an Onslow County high school.
3) Must plan to enroll full-time at an accredited community college, college, university,
technical or vocational school.
4) Minimum of a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
5) Financial need taken into consideration, but is not principal criterion. Academics and
extracurricular/volunteer activities will be considered for success at the college level.

SECU FOUNDATION/PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE
SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements:
1) Must be a graduating senior at Dixon High who has been accepted to one of
the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina.
2) Must be a resident of North Carolina under NCGS 116-143.1 and is eligible
in-state tuition.
3) Must have exemplified the membership philosophy of credit unions, “People
Helping People” and have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity,
and community involvement.
4) Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and may show a financial need.
5) Must continue as a full-time student in good standing with the same university
for eight (8) consecutive semesters.
6) Cannot be a director, employee, or family member of the State Employees’
Credit Union or the SECU Foundation.
7) School scholarship committee will conduct an interview to determine recipient. DO
NOT MAIL ANYTHING!

the FAFSA before issuing other scholarships or need-based grants. A family contribution
number will show up at the end of the process. Print this for your records.
June Graduates: You may complete the FAFSA after January 1, 2013. Estimates are allowed if
your 2012 taxes are incomplete. Apply as soon as possible to get maximum benefits.
