Dear Parents, Carers and Grandparents
I am very pleased and proud to report that Bishop Alan Hopes thoroughly enjoyed his visit to
the school on Tuesday and was greatly impressed by our wonderful children.
Mass was a beautiful and memorable occasion, con-celebrated by the Bishop and Father Russell.
As Bishop Alan said, we were celebrating so much – the opening of the school’s new facilities,
the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the beginning of the Church’s Year of Mercy. The
children were engaged and respectful throughout mass and read and sang with commitment.
After mass the Bishop blessed our new rooms and our stained glass window, attended by those
who had, in their various ways, made our new facilities possible.

and Father Russell – and Alfie, LaShante and Maycen – after the blessing of our stained glass

I hope that you were able to see the teachers you needed to see on our parent-teacher
consultation evenings. Parents and carers seem to have appreciated the new format, with
teachers together in the hall. Certainly there was a very good turnout, with almost all our
children represented. If you were not able to attend, then please contact us. Our teachers will be
happy to see you at another time.
Carrying all before them – our victorious netball girls!
Those of you who came to the first performance of our Infant Nativity will have been charmed
by the children of Rainbows, Year 1 and Year 2 who sang and read so beautifully, telling the
story of that very first Christmas with the passion and innocence that only that age group can
bring together. There are some wonderful photographs in the school reception area. Please
come and take a look. If you want to order any copies, then please visit:

THE CAROL SERVICE
This is being held at St. Mary Magdalen Church this evening at six o’clock. All are welcome. We will
sing traditional carols together – and, afterwards, there will be refreshments outside.
THE SECOND PERFORMANCE OF THE INFANT NATIVITY
This will be held as a part of an extended Friday Assembly tomorrow – the 11th December. It
will take the little ones 20 minutes or so to get ready – so we expect the performance to begin at
around 0930 and finish at approximately 1015. Again, all are welcome.
THE BAZAAR
Please come along to the Friends’ Christmas Bazaar at 1100 on Saturday – the 12th.
This is one of the longstanding traditional events at St. Pancras and will feature, as
always, lots of stalls and games, seasonal refreshments and, of course, Father
Christmas in his Grotto. The choir will be singing too. A big raffle for some great
prizes will be drawn at around 2 p.m. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO DONATE ITEMS FOR
THE STALLS. CAKE STALL ITEMS CAN BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL RIGHT UP TO OUR
OPENING TIME ON SATURDAY MORNING.
THE CHRISTMAS POST
This starts on Monday. Deliveries once per day, courtesy of our Year 6 postpeople. PLEASE
REMEMBER TO WRITE ON THE ENVELOPE THE NAME OF THE PERSON (AND, IF POSSIBLE,
THE CLASS)
CHRISTMAS LUNCH
This is scheduled for next Tuesday – the 15th. CHILDREN ARE ALL INVITED TO WEAR CIVVIES –
especially Christmas jumpers, seasonal hats, red and green things . . .
SCHOOL LUNCH ON THURSDAY 17TH DECEMBER
Mrs Nelli our Head of Kitchen has made a change to the menu, there will now be Fish and Chips and
Christmas Cookies for dessert.
THE FINAL ASSEMBLY
Our Final Assembly is on Thursday 17th December at 0910. It will be a big one, featuring special
farewells, attendance certificates and the presentation of the Jack Smith award for Generosity of
Spirit. All welcome.
We break up on Thursday 17th December 2015 and return to school on Monday 4th January
2016.
Thank you all for your support.
