SEEING IS HEARING
An Art Exhibition showcasing works by
Deaf and hard of hearing artists
Celebrating National Week of Deaf People
Monday 5th to Tuesday 20th October, 2015
We are inviting Deaf and hard of hearing artists to submit an expression of interest to show their
artworks in one of the galleries at the Kingston Art Centre from Monday 5th October to Tuesday
20th October.
The exhibition is called ‘Seeing is Hearing’ and is being held as part of National Week of Deaf
People.
Artworks can be any medium including: photography, painting, drawing, textile or sculptures. No
audio visual (e.g. videos)

Guidelines
You can submit up to a maximum of 3 artworks.
Works will be selected by the committee.

Important
Project partners:

Sales of art work (22% commission to the art gallery)

All artwork (print/photos) needs to be framed or be able to be
hanged on a wall. The hanging system in the gallery is a track
hanging system – works are hung from hooks on wires. The
thicker the frame the better. It is recommended that two d-rings
are attached to the back of each work (see image below).

Artists are responsible for the insurance of works during the period of the exhibition and
whilst travelling to and from the gallery.

Whilst the gallery is fitted with a surveillance system, all insurance to cover damage to or
theft of artworks on display or in transit to or from the Gallery is the responsibility of the
artist.
I accept that the gallery is not liable for any damage or thief that may occur during the period of
the exhibition and whilst travelling to and from the gallery.

Photograph & Video Permission
The Councils* involved in the ‘Seeing is Hearing’ exhibition need your permission before we can
use any photographs or audio-visual recordings (henceforth referred to as ‘images’) of you or your
artwork in the exhibition ‘Seeing is Hearing’ and in Councils’ promotional materials.
Please indicate your consent for your images to be recorded by the Councils involved by reading
and signing this consent form.
By signing this consent form, I agree and give permission:

I am happy for my images to be in the exhibition ‘Seeing is Hearing’ at Gallery One at the
Kingston Arts Centre.
I am happy for my images to be on webpages promoting the exhibition ‘Seeing is Hearing’.
The Councils involved in the ‘Seeing is Hearing’ exhibition may use my images for publicity
purposes and these may be printed or published online. These images may be used for,
but not limited to, promotion of the exhibition and Council activities.
I understand that the images will be kept on file by the Councils involved and may be
reproduced a number of times in promotional material for the MetroAccess program and for
Council.
I understand that there will be no financial or other remuneration for taking or use of the
images.
I acknowledge that the artwork is owned by me and the photo images are the property of
the Councils involved.
I understand that Council will not use these images in a manner that may be deemed
adverse or defamatory to me, or for any political or commercial gain.
