Final Project for The Outsiders ALL PROJECTS MUST INCLUDE a paragraph that explains your project and how it connects to The Outsiders. Spelling and grammar are important! Do this last! 1. Trivia Board Game: Create a board game that challenges the players’ understanding of the novel. Your board game must include the following: Board Player pieces List of rules and directions At least 20 trivia questions Package Be sure to make your game design neat. Play it before you turn it in to check for any oversights. Look at other board games for ideas. This is a group project. 2-3 people can work on the game together. All three must talk to Ms. Williams and sign an agreement. 2. Reenactment of scenes: Dramatize four important scenes from the novel. Think about the parts of the plot (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution). Your reenactment needs to include the following; Accurate dialogue Simple costumes and props This must be recorded at home and shown to the class. This is a group project. 2-3 people can work on this together. All three must talk to Ms. Williams and sign an agreement. 3. Newspaper: Create a newspaper that reflects the important events and characters in The Outsiders. Your newspaper must meet the following requirements: At least 5 articles (Each with a title and written in paragraph form.) At least 2 advertisements (relative to the setting- 1960s) Newspaper title. This can be handwritten or typed. Either way, it needs to be on regular copy paper (at least one page-front and back.) Be sure to look at a newspaper to follow the format. This is a group project. 2-3 people can work on this together. All three must talk to Ms. Williams and sign an agreement. 4. Movie Poster and Soundtrack: Create a movie poster for The Outsiders. Your movie poster needs to include the following: A picture of the main characters in an important scene from the book. A sentence/phrase that describes the book and will catch people’s interest A list of the starring actors and actresses (Must be contemporary actors and CANNOT be people who have already been in The Outsiders movie) A list of explaining your actor choices Credit to the author and the book Your poster should be on large poster paper. It should be easy to read and neatly arranged. Create a soundtrack for the new film version of The Outsiders. Your soundtrack must meet the following requirements: At least 4 songs. (Four that represent three different important scenes and one that represents a character) A hand-drawn album cover At least three sentences for each song explaining its meaning and relation to The Outsiders (This needs to be like the lyrics and notes in a store-bought CD) Packaged This is a single person project. See Ms. Williams to sign up. 5. Comic strip: Design 2 eight panel comic strips that represent 2 different events or scenes from the book. (16 panels in all) Your comic strips must include the following: Hand-drawn illustrations Dialogue (accurate) Lots of details Professional level Color This is a single person project. See Ms. Williams to sign up. 6. Chapter Illustrations: Draw an illustration for each chapter. Be sure to label each with its chapter number. Your illustrations must meet the following requirements: Hand-drawn illustrations (professional level) Neat, lots of details and color Accurate depiction of the chapter Draw each illustration on a different sheet of white copy paper.
