FRANKFORT MANUFACTURING COMPANY Company Information Frankfort Manufacturing (FMC) is a cold heading tooling automotive manufacturing company that started in 1953. It is a big building located on 1105 Main Street in Frankfort, Michigan. The company manufactures machined products for the medical, agricultural, lumbering, power transmission, sporting and automotive industries. Dean Geyer started off as just a regular employee that has now risen to the top with his gained knowledge of the company through working in the field and gaining experience in his counterparts. Dean is now the manager of the sales department of the company, which is a great honor for his many years of service. Duties and Responsibilities Mr. Geyer is responsible for everything in the sales department, from making interface with the customers to increasing sales for the company. Dean must work with computers and software to quote tooling for certain customers and to keep track of sales made. He must also use a company cell phone for taking calls from both work and customers. He uses software like Excel and Job Boss tracking to complete most of his tasks throughout the day. 1 Training and Education q 6,7,8,9 Being a Sales Manager does not require certain training or a certain educational level. It manly requires that the person who is entitled to this position has a least experience working in the business/in the field along with some marketing skills. This person also needs knowledge of the products being sold from their company. Dean was trained exactly by working in his counterparts and in the field to better understand the market he is in. The basic tools for being a sales manager is basically costing sheets, knowledge of products made by company, a phone, and a computer. Skills to be Successful q 10 There are only three basic skills that a sales manager needs have or be able to do. These skills involve knowing the products to deal with the customers, having timely responses to all issues at the requests of the customers, and having good communication skills. Communication skills must be both verbal and written skills. Without good communication skills, the sales manager would defiantly not be able to do his or her job. 2
