Detroit Lacrosse Club – Coyote Travel Player Expectations – 2015 Season Expectations of DLC’s core values are respect, responsibility, commitment and having fun. All players can expect the Coyote Travel coaches to represent and live up to these values to the best of our abilities and we will expect the same from each player. Respect – Respect your self and your teammates both on and off the field. Respect and honor the game, the officials and your opponent while embodying good sportsmanship. Any player not exhibiting good sportsmanship will be taken off the field. If there are 3 or more instances of on or off field unsportsmanlike behavior, membership with Coyote Travel will be terminated. Responsibility – Take responsibility for yourself and your choices both on and off the field. 1. Practice is the foundation of coyote travel. Player’s development relies on practice to improve and take that player to their next level. It is a player’s responsibility to make practices. It is also a player’s responsibility to work hard at practice. All players are expected to attend 80% of practices. It is a player’s responsibility to bring all necessary equipment to practice. If a player will not be at practice please notify your coach at info@thedetroitlacrosseclub.com 2. Travel is a benefit of DLC. When traveling solo with coaches it is mandatory for each player to have proper identification, parent contact info, travel confirmations numbers and proper attire. DLC team gear is encouraged. No other lacrosse team gear allowed on travel tournaments. 3. Team Equipment is everyone’s responsibility when on the field or traveling. Please take the time to help with ball bag, med kit, water, extra equipment and teammates gear. 4. Take responsibility for your future. Make a college list. Take the time to talk with your parents, teachers and coaches to come up with a detailed list of colleges you are interested in and why. Contact all college coaches with a personal email introducing yourself and letting them know what tournaments and camps you are attending this summer and fall. Before each tournament, send another email letting each coach know your schedule and asking them if they will be coming to the tournament and if they will consider coming and watching you play. IMPORTANT – these emails are to be personal not in bulk. 5. It is a player’s responsibility to communicate with DLC coaches when concerns arise. Parents are expected to stay in the loop but players are to communicate any problems or concerns with their coaches. Commitment – It takes commitment to become the player you desire. Players must commit to practice both with the team and on their own. Commitment will get you to that next level 1. Stick Skills should be worked on everyday for at least 30 min. 2. Total Fitness level is key to keeping up with your competition. Running, lifting weights are mandatory and entering a training program is encouraged. 3. If you intend to play in college then taking an active commitment in your recruiting process is mandatory. 4. All players must commit to their team and attend all IWLCA and/or major tournaments offered the entire summer and fall season as well as attend the DLC camp. All the Other Stuff – We encourage you to take risks, make mistakes, recover, learn and move on. Though our focus is on lacrosse DLC’s lessons can be used in lax and life. Hard work, yes but totally worth it. We also guarantee you will laugh loud and have a ton of fun.
