The Development Office
The Development Office is a dynamic, innovative and friendly team, responsible for all corporate
fundraising campaigns, alumni engagement, managing alumni and fundraising data and delivering
corporate events, including the degree ceremonies; in addition the teams liaise with academic
departments to support decentralised activities in this area.
The University is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2014/15 and the Development Office has been
responsible for delivering a wide ranging programme that is designed to advance the institution in a
challenging Higher Education environment which will continue into academic year 2015/16.
The Role
The post holder will undertake a review of best practice in student alumni programmes, through
reading published research on the subject, by calling universities across the world that are doing it
well, and making best practice visits in the UK. They will be asked to pilot a student alumni scheme
with staff, students and alumni. They will be expected to analyse the results of the pilot. They will be
expected to propose a detailed student alumni programme.
Key Accountabilities / Primary Responsibilities
 Assisting the Corporate Events Manager with Strategy, planning and implementation of the
student to alumni project
 Looking at current ideas for the project, and adapting them to meet the needs of the
Corporate Events Manager and the Supporter Engagement Team to implement and develop
the project
 Attending meetings and taking accurate minutes
 Liaising with University staff, students, and external stakeholders where appropriate
