St. John, USVI Ferrous Musings/Fusings 6-day Retreat/Workshop
DATES: MARCH 29-APRIL 3, 2015. 9:30 AM-5PM (One hour lunch break)
12 students maximum. There will be 3 evening sessions from 7-9:30PM.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: Check-in 4 PM March 28/Check Out by 10AM April 4. (7 nights at Soft
Winds.)
GETTING THERE: Fly in to St. Thomas Cyril E. King Airport. Taxi from the airport in west
Charlotte Amalie to Red Hook. From Red Hook, ferry across the channel to Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI.
Arrangements will be made to pick you up at the dock.
LOCATION: The Workshop/Retreat will be held at Soft Winds, a private vacation rental home
between Fish Bay and Reef Bay, St. John, that will sleep 8 students. The teachings will also be held
at Soft Winds.
Soft Winds is a 4 bedroom/3 bath home with panoramic views in all directions. There is a lovely pool,
large pool deck, and pavilion next to the pool. The home has cable television, DVD,DSL/wifi, stereo
system with CD, land line telephone, and a full laundry. There is also a full Gourmet kitchen with all
the amenities.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Of necessity to house students on property, it will be required that students
share bedrooms., with two students per bedroom. 8 students will be staying onsite. A few local
residents will be taking the workshop, but will not be staying at Soft Winds.
The main floor has three large bedrooms. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a full bath and a private deck.
Master Bedroom has a queen bed, and a private bath.
Bedroom 2 has a king bed.
Bedroom 3 has twin beds.
Bedroom 4 has a queen bed, full bath, and a private deck and is on a lower level, which is
approached from an outside stairway.
Air mattresses will be available as additional sleeping space for the bedrooms with the queen or king
bed. It is expected and understood that with students sharing a room, in all fairness they will rotate from
bed to an air mattress midpoint of workshop.
Room assignments/or choice of room will be dictated by date of when Registration and Payment
of fees is made. Requests for sharing a bedroom with another student can be made. Due to limited
space, accommodations at Soft Winds will be only available to registered students.
Soft Winds vacation rental sits on the top of a hill, on the point between
St John's Fish Bay and Reef Bay.
The panoramic views extend in all directions from Rams Head on the far
eastern tip of St. John, south to St. Croix, west to St. Thomas and north to
the lush green hills of St. John.
A perfect place to "get away" and enjoy total peace and complete privacy.
Enjoy both sunrise and sunset from one of the many decks.
Enjoy the hammock and ocean views from the main deck, or day dream
in the hammock off the bedroom. How about floating on one of the mats in the
pool gathering dreams and St. John color?
Have an al fresco luncheon under the pavilion beside the pool.
Soft Winds is fully screened and has ceiling fans in all rooms.
The home has cable television, DVD, DSL/wifi, stereo system with CD,
telephones and an answering machine, and a full laundry.
The living room has sliding glass doors on both the west and east sides.
The west side opens onto a large covered deck, facing west down the south
shore of St. John towards St. Thomas with a sunset view. The east side opens
onto the pool deck and faces Reef Bay and the sunrise view.
Soft Winds has a gourmet kitchen and is ideal for food preparation with lots
and lots of granite counter space, electric range with oven, dishwasher,
stainless refrigerator with ice maker, blender, toaster oven, microwave, coffee
maker and a fantastic view too! A grill is located on the deck out the kitchen
door.
The main floor has three large bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a queen bed and a private bath and is adjacent to the
kitchen.
Two more bedrooms on the opposite end of the home and a fourth bedroom, on
a lower level and is approached from an outside stairway.
On the other end on the main floor are two more bedrooms which share a full
bathroom.
The bedroom with a king bed has windows overlooking the pool deck,
and has cable TV.
The king and twin bedrooms share a private deck, which also has a hammock.
The bedroom with the two twin beds can also be made up as a king bed.
Tile, native stonework, delightful breezes, privacy and great views make this
home a perfect retreat for a larger group or an intimate honeymoon.
A fourth bedroom, with a queen bed, full bath and a private deck is
on a lower level and is approached from an outside stairway.
Beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, umbrella, masks and snorkels
are provided.
Soft Winds is four miles from Cruz Bay center.
All the roads are paved.
Soft Winds sleeps eight comfortably.
No children under 6 years for safety reasons.
