YOUNG MEMBER

Jimmy Chan
AMIMechE
Elected Unopposed
I graduated with a BEng (Mechanical Engineering) in the University of Hong
Kong in 2012. Currently I am working in Swire Properties as an assistant
engineer, responsible for the building services engineering of the office
towers, shopping mall and hotels in the Pacific Palace complex. To further
equip myself with the latest knowledge of the industry, I am pursuing a MSc
n Construction Project Management and expect to graduate in June 2016.
Other than building services engineering, I have a strong interest in aviation
and I had a 6-month internship in Boeing Company USA during my
undergraduate degree.
There is no doubt that North East Asia Region
(NEAR) is under a rapid economic development.
Fast pace development of infrastructure project in
China, project manufacturing in Japan and
electronics manufacturing in South Korea, etc.
creates a huge demand for engineering.
Nevertheless, challenges are continually emerging
and it is important for young engineers to grasp
these unprecedented opportunities to learn and
develop our career in such a vibrant environment. By
utilizing the NEAR platform, I do hope we young
engineers can find a position to excel and do our
best to serve the society and make a better world.
