One man’s trash is another man’s treasure Donation drive makes it easy to give away things you no longer need — to those who need them greatly. It’s funny how it happens, but you always wind up trying to fit more stuff in your car as you get ready to go home for the summer than you had when you arrived in the fall. And that usually means that something’s got to go! But instead of just throwing it out, did you know you can donate them instead? SUNY Fredonia, through a partnership with the Chautauqua Country Rural Ministry, offers a way you can donate any unwanted items. And it couldn’t be easier! Simply place anything you’d like to donate in one of the many wood-framed bins that will be located inside ALL 14 residential halls during the last three weeks of the spring semester, beginning April 27. And what if you live off-campus? You can do your part too, by simply bringing your items to the Williams Center where similar bins will be placed. Items could include, but are not limited to: Clothing & shoes Non-perishable food items Carpets Clocks, lamps & shelves Stereos and other electronics Computers, printers and accessories Land line and cell phones Microwave ovens Small refrigerators Mattresses, beds frames & sheets Books, movies and CDs Cinder blocks Over the last five years, more than 37 tons have been collected for Rural Ministry, including a record 9.4 tons last year! Help our campus beat that mark and continue this great tradition. You’ll never find an easier way to help out those in need in our community — and you’ll be creating a lot less trash in the process.
