Biome – areas on Earth with similar climate, plants, and animals 4. Marine Biome – salt water biomes that include animals and plants that have adapted to salt water. 5. Freshwater Biome – include ponds, lakes, rivers, creeks, and swamps 6. Rainforest – a warm, tropical biome near the equator that receives plenty of rainfall throughout the year. 7. Tundra – A cold, dry biome – covered in snow – located near the Poles. A layer of permanently frozen soil (permafrost) makes it hard for plants to grow. 8. Taiga – a cold, rocky biome that consists of coniferous trees. 9. Grassland – a warm biome with tall grasses that has a wet season and a dry season. Prairies and savannas are two kinds. 10. Temperate Deciduous Forest – a mild biome that experiences all four seasons. The deciduous trees lose their leaves in the Fall. 11.
